This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Assistant Vice President (AVP) - Infrastructure Engineering & Virtualization Services based in India.
As an AVP, you will lead enterprise infrastructure engineering and virtualization services across Windows Server, VMware, Nutanix, and physical server environments.
You will combine strategic leadership with deep technical expertise to drive reliable, secure, scalable, and compliant infrastructure operations.
The role covers the full infrastructure lifecycle, from server deployment and virtualization to migrations, capacity planning, modernization, and ongoing support.
You will lead engineering teams, establish operational standards, and act as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
A key focus will be advancing automation, infrastructure-as-code, cloud transformation, and self-service capabilities.
Working across technology, security, architecture, operations, vendors, and business stakeholders, you will help shape resilient infrastructure services and continuous improvement initiatives.
Accountabilities:
Lead, mentor, and develop infrastructure engineering teams, managing workloads, priorities, performance, succession planning, and career development.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, engineering discipline, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
Oversee the engineering, administration, and support of enterprise Windows Server, VMware, Nutanix, and physical server environments.
Ensure infrastructure platforms meet requirements for availability, performance, security, compliance, and capacity.
Lead incident, problem, change, and service-improvement activities and serve as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
Manage end-to-end server lifecycle activities, including rack and stack, hardware installation, operating system builds, provisioning, decommissioning, VMware ESXi installation, and Nutanix cluster deployment.
Ensure adherence to data center standards, hardware lifecycle controls, asset tracking, capacity planning, and technology refresh requirements.
Lead infrastructure modernization, virtualization, migration, upgrade, and cloud-transformation initiatives across VMware, Nutanix, data center, Azure, and AWS environments.
Drive standardization, infrastructure-as-code, automation, and self-service capabilities using PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, and related tools.
Develop and maintain operational procedures, engineering standards, runbooks, dashboards, metrics, and leadership reports.
Collaborate with business, architecture, security, operations, vendors, and other stakeholders on upgrades, refresh programs, migrations, risk remediation, and service priorities.
Provide leadership coverage for critical incidents, planned infrastructure changes, migrations, and release activities outside standard business hours when required.
Promote continuous improvement across infrastructure engineering, operational processes, service reliability, and technology adoption.
Support effective risk management, security controls, compliance requirements, change management, and operational governance across enterprise infrastructure.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
12+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering and operations, including at least 3 years in a people-leadership role.
Proven experience managing enterprise Windows Server, VMware, Nutanix, physical server, and data center environments.
Deep understanding of enterprise server hardware, virtualization architecture, operating systems, storage, networking, high availability, capacity management, and data center operations.
Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, NSX, and HCX.
Strong experience with Nutanix Prism Central and AHV.
Solid knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
Practical experience with PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, infrastructure automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
Experience developing or using operational dashboards, metrics, and leadership reporting.
Demonstrated success leading infrastructure projects, platform migrations, modernization programs, and cross-functional engineering teams.
Experience with Azure and/or AWS environments is preferred.
Strong strategic thinking, technical leadership, problem-solving, project delivery, and continuous-improvement capabilities.
Excellent communication, executive reporting, vendor management, and stakeholder-management skills.
Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence outcomes across technical and business stakeholders.
Strong understanding of risk, security, compliance, change management, and operational governance in large enterprise environments.
ITIL, VMware, Nutanix, Microsoft, or cloud certifications are preferred.
Flexibility to support global stakeholders and critical infrastructure activities outside standard business hours when required.
