Backend Software Engineer (US Shift)

Working the US shift, you will contribute to products used across global markets while gaining exposure to diverse cultures and technologies.

Accountabilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance scalable backend applications, ensuring high standards of performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Translate technical product requirements into robust backend solutions and contribute throughout the full Software Development Lifecycle.
• Build and manage services based on client-server architectures, ensuring effective integration with databases, APIs, and other application components.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues while tracking development challenges through to timely resolution.
• Monitor application and system performance, identify optimization opportunities, and implement improvements that enhance reliability and efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams, product managers, and operations stakeholders to deliver high-quality products and features.
• Participate actively in code reviews, technical discussions, solution design, and knowledge-sharing activities.
• Support other team members and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture focused on quality, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Work with cloud platforms and infrastructure to support scalable and resilient backend services.
• Explore and apply relevant AI and LLM-enabled tools where they can improve software development workflows and engineering productivity.

Requirements

• 5-10 years of relevant professional experience as a Backend Software Engineer or Backend Developer.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong professional experience with backend programming languages such as Python or Ruby.
• Solid understanding and hands-on experience with RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
• Practical knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS) and backend data integration.
• Familiarity with at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
• Experience developing scalable, maintainable, and high-performance backend services.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to resolving technical challenges.
• Good understanding of software development lifecycle practices, code quality, testing, and collaborative development.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and operations functions.
• Exposure to AI/LLM tools across the software development lifecycle is a plus.
• Willingness and ability to work the US shift from 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM IST.
