Profile match
Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Chemical Engineering Management Consultant based in Canada.

As a Chemical Engineering Management Consultant, you will help major energy and refining organizations unlock significant operational and financial improvements.

You’ll combine chemical engineering expertise, refinery operations knowledge, and advanced data analysis to identify high-value opportunities.

Your work will span complex engagements focused on quality, hydrocarbon losses, energy efficiency, and value-chain optimization.

You’ll work directly with client teams across operations, engineering, planning, maintenance, laboratories, and management.

The role is highly hands-on, translating data and technical insights into practical solutions that create measurable and sustainable results.

You’ll gain exposure to diverse refinery environments while developing specialized consulting and process-optimization expertise.

This is a client-facing position requiring approximately 80% travel across Canada and the United States.

Accountabilities

    • Analyze, cleanse, and interpret refinery operating data using Excel and other analytical tools to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
    • Develop dashboards, KPI frameworks, management reports, area profiles, and other analytical outputs that translate findings into actionable recommendations.
    • Work directly with refinery operations, planning, scheduling, laboratory, maintenance, engineering, and management teams to implement sustainable improvements.
    • Support quality giveaway reduction initiatives by improving blend planning, scheduling, execution, analyser modeling, backcasting, trimming, offset correction, and site-specific blending practices.
    • Improve hydrocarbon loss control and measurement assurance through stronger measurement practices, mass-balance calculations, reconciliation processes, sediment and water analysis, and hydrocarbon volume recovery.
    • Identify and quantify energy-efficiency opportunities involving steam, electricity, natural gas, heat exchangers, fuel selection, and hydrogen management, applying process engineering and control principles to deliver sustainable reductions.
    • Support value-chain and planning optimization by improving refinery LP outputs, feedstock selection, product mix, operating constraints, model accuracy, sensitivity analysis, and long-range planning.
    • Assess and improve unit mass balances through density reconciliation, measurement maintenance, continuous monitoring, and data-driven analysis.
    • Collaborate with client stakeholders to clarify responsibilities, establish improved processes, and embed new ways of working that remain effective after the consulting engagement.
    • Support observations, audits, continuous-improvement initiatives, and project reporting while tracking measurable operational and financial outcomes.
    • Contribute to multiple client engagements and adapt quickly to different refinery environments, business challenges, and project requirements.
    • Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.
      • At least 2 years of hands-on professional experience working in a refinery environment.
      • Strong understanding of refinery operations, process engineering principles, and the operational challenges associated with downstream oil and gas environments.
      • Advanced Excel skills, particularly for data mining, cleansing, analysis, reporting, dashboards, and KPI development.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to translate complex operational data into practical recommendations.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical specialists, frontline operators, and senior client stakeholders.
      • Ability to work in a highly client-facing consulting environment and build productive relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
      • Strong adaptability, initiative, and ability to work independently while managing changing priorities and project demands.
      • Experience with tools such as Aspen PIMS, AVEVA Spiral, Haverly GRTMPS, Honeywell RPMS, or equivalent refinery optimization platforms is an advantage.
      • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 80% of the time, typically Monday through Friday, to refinery and client sites across Canada and the United States.
      • Ability to work onsite in refinery environments and regularly travel according to client and project requirements.
      • Benefits

        • Competitive compensation range of CAD 80,000-270,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and project responsibilities.
        • Opportunity to work on complex, high-value refinery improvement engagements with measurable operational and financial impact.
        • Exposure to diverse refinery clients, technical challenges, and multidisciplinary project teams across North America.
        • Opportunity to develop deep subject-matter expertise in process engineering, refinery optimization, data analysis, and operational improvement.
        • Fast-growing consulting environment with opportunities to expand your technical and consulting capabilities.
        • Highly client-facing role offering significant professional exposure and responsibility.
        • Opportunity to contribute to projects focused on quality improvement, loss reduction, energy efficiency, and value-chain optimization.
        • Remote-based position with extensive travel to client sites as required.
