Dev Backend Java Senior - Segmento Financeiro

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Dev Backend Java Senior - Segmento Financeiro based in Brazil.

This is a senior backend engineering opportunity supporting a digital transformation initiative within the financial sector.

You will design and build high-performance, secure, and scalable applications using Java and Spring Boot.

The role offers strong exposure to modern architectures, including microservices and event-driven systems powered by Kafka.

You will contribute to technical and architectural decisions while helping establish engineering practices that deliver measurable business value.

Your work will span development, testing, observability, performance optimization, and production incident resolution.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in an agile, inclusive, and highly collaborative environment.

Accountabilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend applications using Java and Spring Boot, applying sound engineering and architectural practices.
• Build scalable and secure RESTful APIs that meet business and technical requirements.
• Develop and support microservices and event-driven architectures using Kafka and related messaging patterns.
• Participate in technical discussions, architectural decisions, and the definition of software solutions.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure code quality, reliability, and maintainability.
• Monitor application performance and proactively identify and implement optimization opportunities.
• Investigate production incidents, diagnose technical problems, and contribute to sustainable solutions and root-cause resolution.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Document technical solutions and contribute to the creation and maintenance of operational procedures.
• Promote development best practices through code reviews, DevOps practices, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Strong professional experience with Java, particularly versions 8, 11, 17, or 21.
• Advanced knowledge of Spring Boot, including experience with Spring Boot 3.x.
• Solid experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs, with a strong understanding of API security practices.
• Practical experience with microservices architecture and distributed application development.
• Experience with messaging and event-driven architecture, particularly Apache Kafka.
• Knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL, as well as non-relational technologies such as MongoDB and Redis.
• Experience implementing unit and integration tests and applying software quality practices.
• Knowledge of DevOps principles and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
• Experience with tools such as Jenkins and Git, combined with familiarity with agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.
• Strong problem-solving skills, technical ownership, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Proactive approach to continuous learning and keeping up with evolving technologies.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Spring Cloud is a plus.
• Familiarity with Consul, Jira, and application monitoring tools is desirable.
• Experience working on large-scale projects, particularly within the financial sector, is an advantage.
• Active participation in technical communities or open-source projects is a plus.
