Devices Software Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Devices Software Engineer based in India.

This is an opportunity to build and evolve software that operates at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and device management. You’ll develop production-grade services and microservices while contributing to reliable, scalable solutions for modern IT environments. The role offers exposure to Go, RESTful and gRPC APIs, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms such as AWS. You’ll also work with native operating-system technologies and device-management frameworks, making this a strong fit for engineers interested in systems-level challenges. Working within geographically distributed engineering teams, you’ll collaborate across disciplines in a remote-first environment. The position also encourages practical use of AI throughout the software and product development lifecycle to accelerate delivery, testing, and user experience improvements.

Accountabilities

• Develop, test, maintain, and take ownership of distributed systems and microservices using Go, with Node.js, Java, C, C++, or other languages as appropriate to specific subsystems.
• Build and integrate reliable RESTful and gRPC APIs supporting scalable backend services.
• Design and deploy applications in containerized environments using Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud infrastructure.
• Contribute to applications and scripts that interact closely with native operating-system frameworks.
• Build, test, and safely release software through automated CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
• Apply AI-powered development approaches across the software and product development lifecycle to accelerate engineering, testing, and user experience improvements.
• Collaborate with UI/UX teams when required to develop modular, reusable interfaces and integrate them effectively with backend services.
• Contribute to device-management capabilities involving concepts such as Apple MDM/DDM/ADE, Android Enterprise, or Windows MDM.
• Investigate technical issues, troubleshoot complex problems, and bring clarity to ambiguous requirements while delivering incremental value.
• Work closely with geographically distributed engineering teams to maintain strong engineering practices, documentation, communication, and delivery standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond effectively to assigned production alerts and incidents.
• Contribute to architecture, design patterns, engineering standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of professional software engineering experience in production environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Golang/Go and a solid understanding of object-oriented backend development.
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles, system design, architecture, and design patterns.
• Experience developing distributed systems and microservices in production.
• Proficiency in one or more additional programming languages such as Java, Python, TypeScript, C, or C++.
• Experience working with RESTful and/or gRPC APIs.
• Practical knowledge of cloud technologies, preferably AWS; experience with GCP or Azure is also valuable.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern containerized infrastructure.
• Familiarity with automated CI/CD practices and tools such as GitHub Actions.
• Exposure to native operating-system development or scripting is highly desirable.
• Experience with Swift, Objective-C, or C++ is a strong differentiator for device-focused development.
• Understanding of device enrollment and management concepts, including Apple MDM/DDM/ADE, Android Enterprise, or Windows MDM, is highly valued.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, identify root causes, and drive practical solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with geographically distributed teams.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, collaborative environment without compromising engineering processes and best practices.
• Fluency in written and spoken English is required, as the role involves working with global teams and conducting interviews and business communication primarily in English.
• Must be based in India and have the legal authorization to work in India.
• Comfortable participating in an on-call rotation and responding during assigned support shifts.
