This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Head of Brand based in United States.
This is a high-ownership brand leadership role responsible for shaping how the business is perceived by founders, investors, and the broader market. You will own positioning, voice, visual identity, content strategy, video, channels, and the small creative team behind the work. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, from writing and editing to directing story-driven shoots and shaping campaigns. You will work closely with senior leadership while enjoying substantial creative freedom and autonomy. A major focus will be creating authoritative content that earns attention from both people and AI-powered answer engines. This is an ideal opportunity for a player-coach who wants to build a distinctive brand from the ground up while directly influencing its growth and market presence.
Accountabilities:
- Own the brand strategy, positioning, voice, visual identity, and overall consistency across the website, social channels, newsroom, and other customer-facing touchpoints.
- Develop and publish high-quality weekly content for founder and company voices across LinkedIn and X, maintaining a distinctive and consistent editorial standard.
- Own the editorial calendar and production of the weekly website newsletter, monthly newsletter, and quarterly reports designed to become authoritative sources within the category.
- Lead founder and investor story shoots end to end, including guest selection and booking, preparation, production, direction, and final editing, while remaining hands-on with video production.
- Develop content designed to be discovered and cited by AI answer engines and journalists, while maintaining strong SEO fundamentals and tracking share of voice.
- Plan and measure sponsorships, retargeting, and future paid brand campaigns with a clear focus on generating and improving inbound demand.
- Brief, manage, edit, mentor, and develop VC Content Interns, helping strong contributors progress toward larger and potentially full-time roles.
- Work directly with the co-founders on brand strategy, creative direction, priorities, and execution while exercising meaningful creative ownership.
- Analyze content performance, clearly identifying why individual pieces succeeded or underperformed and translating those insights into improved future work.
- Build a recognizable and trusted brand presence within the founder and venture capital ecosystem, with content designed to become a reference point when audiences research fundraising and investment.
- Demonstrated experience building and running a brand end to end, with a portfolio or named brand that clearly shows your contribution to voice, content, channels, and measurable before-and-after results.
- Strong hands-on creative capabilities, including writing, editing, video production, and directing shoots rather than exclusively managing others who perform the work.
- Proven experience managing and developing makers, freelancers, interns, or a small creative team, including evidence of helping at least one team member grow into a larger role.
- Exceptional writing ability with a restrained, distinctive voice and published work that demonstrates a high editorial standard beyond short-form social captions.
- Experience running paid brand activity, including sponsorships and retargeting, or owning the strategy, brief, measurement, and results while another team handled execution.
- Strong understanding of how AI answer engines and journalists identify and select authoritative sources, with experience creating content specifically for citation, discoverability, and credibility.
- Solid understanding of SEO fundamentals and content performance measurement.
- Strong analytical judgment, with the ability to explain precisely why content performed well or poorly and what should change as a result.
- Comfortable operating as a player-coach who can move between strategy, leadership, writing, editing, production, and execution without losing quality.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to work directly with senior leadership and external founders, investors, creators, and partners.
- Experience or familiarity with the founder and venture capital ecosystem is a strong advantage.
- A personal audience or following among founders or investors, podcast or newsletter production experience, and comfort appearing on camera are valuable bonuses.
- Able to work effectively in a fully remote, async environment and overlap with US Eastern Time for several hours each day.
- Fully remote and asynchronous working environment.
- A flexible schedule with several hours of overlap with US Eastern Time rather than requiring full US working hours.
- Meetings concentrated on Mondays and Thursdays, allowing the rest of the week to prioritize focused, deep work.
- Access to advanced AI tooling, including paid access to Claude Code, Cursor, and leading AI models.
- Direct access to co-founders and the opportunity to collaborate closely on brand strategy and creative direction.
- Significant creative freedom and end-to-end ownership of the brand.
- Access to an existing film library and an established video team to support content production.
- Opportunity to build and develop a team of VC Content Interns.
- High level of autonomy and ownership over brand strategy, content, channels, and execution.
- Opportunity to build a highly visible brand within the founder and venture capital ecosystem.
- A hands-on leadership environment suited to someone who wants to remain deeply involved in the creative work while growing a team.
- Compensation and any additional benefits are determined by the hiring company and discussed during the recruitment process.
