SAP HCM Technical Consultant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SAP HCM Technical Consultant based in India.

As an SAP HCM Technical Consultant, you will combine HR process knowledge with strong ABAP development expertise to deliver and support SAP HCM solutions in a digital transformation environment. You will work closely with HR stakeholders and functional teams to translate business needs into effective technical solutions. The role covers development, enhancement, integration, troubleshooting, and ongoing support across key SAP HR processes. You will contribute to projects involving system upgrades, data migration, and integrations while ensuring reliable and high-quality solutions. Your work will directly support critical employee, organizational, time management, and payroll processes. This is an opportunity to work on complex transformation initiatives within a collaborative, international consulting environment.

Accountabilities:

• Develop, enhance, and maintain SAP ABAP programs supporting HR and HCM processes, ensuring solutions are reliable, scalable, and aligned with business requirements.
• Collaborate with HR business stakeholders and functional consultants to understand process needs and translate them into clear technical specifications and development solutions.
• Design and develop SAP HR reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms, and workflows to support business operations and improve process efficiency.
• Provide technical expertise across SAP HCM areas including Personnel Administration (PA), Organizational Management (OM), Time Management, and Payroll.
• Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of existing ABAP developments, identifying root causes and implementing effective technical improvements.
• Support data migration activities, SAP system upgrades, and integrations with other systems and technologies within the HR landscape.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and functional specifications to ensure solutions are clearly documented and maintainable.
• Provide technical support for production issues affecting HR processes, investigating incidents and delivering timely resolutions.
• Work collaboratively with functional consultants, technical teams, business stakeholders, and project teams to deliver successful SAP transformation initiatives.

Requirements

• Proven experience working as an SAP Technical Consultant with strong hands-on ABAP development expertise, ideally within HR/HCM environments.
• Practical experience with SAP HR/HCM modules and a solid understanding of the underlying HR business processes.
• Experience developing SAP HR reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms, and workflows.
• Good knowledge of key HR processes, including employee lifecycle management, payroll, time management, and organizational management.
• Hands-on experience with SAP debugging, performance tuning, technical troubleshooting, and identifying issues within existing ABAP programs.
• Familiarity with SAP integration technologies and data migration tools is considered an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to investigate complex technical issues and develop practical solutions.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate confidently with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• A collaborative mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to contribute effectively within cross-functional and international project teams.
