SAS Development Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SAS Development Engineer based in Brazil.

Join a remote engineering team supporting enterprise-scale pricing analytics and SAS integration capabilities.

In this role, you will work across SAS Viya, advanced SAS programming, Python integrations, ETL, analytics delivery, and production support.

You will help design and enhance cloud-based analytics applications and build reliable data pipelines connecting multiple enterprise systems.

The position combines hands-on development with solution design, troubleshooting, release planning, and continuous platform improvement.

You will contribute to production-critical analytics environments where performance, reliability, and data quality are essential.

The role also offers opportunities to provide technical guidance, participate in code reviews, and strengthen engineering practices.

This is a one-year remote contract suited to an experienced SAS professional who enjoys solving complex technical and data challenges.

Accountabilities

• Design, develop, test, and enhance applications running on the SAS Viya Cloud Platform.
• Develop and maintain advanced SAS programs, including macro-based solutions and automated ETL processes.
• Build integrations between vendor APIs, enterprise databases, and reporting platforms using SAS and Python.
• Develop and support reliable data pipelines and production analytics capabilities.
• Participate in solution design, release planning, implementation, and deployment activities.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, technical issues, and performance challenges across analytics solutions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support materials.
• Provide technical guidance to colleagues and contribute to code reviews and development standards.
• Apply DevSecOps practices and modern version-control and CI/CD approaches to support reliable software delivery.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of enterprise data, analytics, and integration capabilities.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in SAS development, analytics, or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years of hands-on SAS programming experience.
• Advanced professional experience with the SAS Viya Cloud Platform, ideally in production environments.
• Strong SAS programming and macro development capabilities.
• Hands-on Python development experience, particularly for API integrations.
• Experience developing ETL processes, data pipelines, and enterprise analytics solutions.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, Git/GitHub, and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience supporting analytics solutions and resolving issues in production environments.
• Knowledge of analytics and reporting processes, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in professional English.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience in financial services is an advantage.
• SAS certifications such as SAS Certified Specialist in Administration of SAS Viya, Programming Fundamentals, Programming Using SAS 9.4, or Advanced Programming Using SAS 9.4 are preferred.
• Candidates must be based in Brazil and comfortable working fully remotely.
• Candidates must provide their own laptop and be comfortable installing required security software and device-management tools for the duration of the engagement.
