Senior Software Engineer, Frontend (App Experience)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Frontend (App Experience) based in Canada.

This is a senior frontend engineering opportunity focused on shaping high-quality digital experiences across web and mobile product surfaces.

You’ll work with React and TypeScript to build major product features and modernize frontend architecture at scale.

The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and ownership of quarterly goals.

You’ll help evolve design systems, codebases, tooling, and engineering practices while solving complex technical challenges.

You’ll also drive horizontal initiatives and introduce efficient approaches using codemods, AI-enabled tools, and automation.

The environment is highly collaborative and global, with close partnerships across Product, Design, Analytics, and Engineering.

Accountabilities:

• Own and deliver quarterly engineering goals, guiding teammates through ambiguous and complex problems while supporting successful delivery.
• Design, architect, and implement significant frontend features and system components based on product requirements, designs, and technical objectives.
• Partner with Product Management, Design, Analytics, and engineering stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle to evaluate trade-offs, constraints, risks, and opportunities.
• Lead modernization initiatives across web applications, including improving architecture, design systems, existing implementations, and deprecated functionality.
• Drive cross-team and horizontal technical initiatives, creating execution plans and aligning multiple stakeholders around shared outcomes.
• Identify project, process, technology, and business issues proactively, advocate for improvements, and lead solutions through implementation.
• Build and maintain tools, codemods, AI agent capabilities, and engineering practices that enable safe and efficient changes across large codebases.
• Support the reliability and availability of team-owned systems and artifacts by monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and contributing to operational and on-call responsibilities.
• Establish and improve engineering standards for code reviews, system design, quality, and ownership, while sharing best practices through technical writing and presentations.
• Mentor and develop engineers through thoughtful feedback, guidance, and hands-on leadership, helping create a culture of continuous growth and technical excellence.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience developing and architecting web applications using declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.
• Strong proficiency with JavaScript and TypeScript, with hands-on experience building scalable frontend applications.
• Experience defining technical and execution plans for significant product features, system components, migrations, or deprecations.
• Demonstrated ability to make substantial changes within large codebases while maintaining quality, safety, and maintainability.
• Experience working across multiple engineering teams and leading horizontal or cross-functional technical initiatives.
• Strong understanding of frontend architecture, design systems, software development practices, and extensible system design.
• Ability to write clean, high-quality, maintainable code that is easy for other engineers to understand and build upon.
• Experience developing tools, processes, or practices that enable teams to modernize systems and deliver changes safely and efficiently.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity, identify risks, and make sound technical decisions.
• Demonstrated ownership of professional growth, including actively seeking feedback and continuously improving technical and leadership capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across a global engineering organization.
• Experience with AI-assisted development, codemods, automation, or developer productivity tooling is highly relevant to the role.
• Candidates must reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.
