This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer (TeamCity) based in United Kingdom.
This role offers the opportunity to shape the automated testing platform behind a major developer infrastructure product. You will focus on building high-impact tools, frameworks, and automation that enable engineering teams to release software with greater speed and confidence. Rather than maintaining legacy test suites, you will tackle engineering friction at its source and improve quality across the development lifecycle. You will also explore practical applications of AI for test generation, failure triage, and self-healing automation. Working closely with product engineers, you will influence technical standards and help teams take greater ownership of quality. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role with significant scope to shape the future of quality engineering.
Accountabilities:
- Evolve automated testing frameworks, infrastructure, reporting capabilities, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Identify and eliminate slow, manual, fragile, or repetitive engineering processes, including release automation, feedback loops, and test flakiness.
- Develop practical AI-powered solutions for test generation, automated failure triage, and self-healing tests.
- Partner with product engineering teams to help them design, implement, and maintain high-quality automated tests.
- Review testing contributions, promote strong test design practices, and establish technical standards across teams.
- Investigate failures and flaky tests across both test infrastructure and product code, driving issues through to resolution.
- Contribute throughout the full product lifecycle, from initial design and development through testing and release.
- Mentor colleagues, share knowledge, and advocate for engineering practices that improve quality and developer productivity.
- Measure the impact of quality engineering improvements and continuously identify opportunities to accelerate development workflows.
- Advanced proficiency in Kotlin or Java, with a strong understanding of object-oriented design and design patterns.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining automated testing solutions for complex, mission-critical backends, web services, or desktop applications.
- Strong knowledge of testing frameworks such as TestNG or JUnit.
- Experience with browser automation technologies such as Selenium WebDriver, Selenide, or Playwright.
- Experience with build automation tools such as Gradle or Maven.
- Practical experience with containerization technologies including Docker or Podman.
- Familiarity with test reporting tools such as Allure.
- Strong command of Git, software testing principles, and concurrent programming concepts.
- Proven experience creating internal platform tools or developer-experience improvements that measurably accelerate engineering workflows.
- Strong architectural judgment and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
- Practical curiosity about AI and the ability to assess where AI genuinely adds value to engineering and quality workflows.
- Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguous requirements, understand complex products, and prioritize effectively.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to influence developers and encourage improvements in engineering practices.
- Interest in mentoring colleagues and sharing technical knowledge across teams.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Competitive base salary reflecting your skills and experience.
- Flexible work location with the option to work remotely or from an office.
- Ability to work remotely from abroad for up to 30 days per year.
- Additional paid time off to support rest and personal time.
- Medical insurance allowance for you and your family.
- Learning and development opportunities, including conferences, courses, and professional training.
- Language classes to support local language learning or English development.
- Relocation support to help make an international move smoother.
- Hot meals or a lunch allowance on workdays.
- Access to professional mental health support.
- Sports benefits, including an on-site gym or sports club stipend.
- Internal events and opportunities to connect with colleagues across the organization.
- Benefits may vary depending on location.
