This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Developer, Integrations based in Canada.
As a Software Developer, Integrations, you will help build and scale the systems that power critical data flows across an enterprise platform.
You will design, develop, and maintain integrations connecting HRIS, ATS, payroll, and other third-party systems through reliable APIs and data pipelines.
Your work will directly influence how customers connect their systems, move data, and troubleshoot integration issues.
You will tackle real-world engineering challenges including authentication, pagination, rate limits, schema changes, retries, and partial failures.
The role spans backend services, workflow orchestration, data transformation, observability, and customer-facing integration experiences.
You will collaborate closely with engineering, implementation, customer success, and other cross-functional teams to turn customer needs into scalable platform capabilities.
This is an ownership-oriented opportunity for a developer who enjoys solving complex integration problems and building infrastructure that customers can depend on.
Accountabilities:
- Build, maintain, and optimize reliable integrations between the platform and third-party systems, including HRIS, ATS, payroll, CRM, and ERP platforms.
- Design and develop API-based integrations using technologies and protocols such as REST, SOAP, webhooks, OAuth, and API-key authentication.
- Manage real-world integration challenges including pagination, rate limiting, authentication flows, upstream schema changes, retries, and partial failures.
- Design and improve data ingestion workflows that reliably move and transform customer data across multiple systems.
- Work with workflow orchestration to manage scheduling, sequencing, retries, monitoring, and other operational requirements across integration pipelines.
- Improve the performance and scalability of data flows supporting customer datasets that can include hundreds of thousands of employee records across numerous sources.
- Develop clear error handling and diagnostic capabilities that make synchronization issues understandable and actionable for customers and Customer Success teams.
- Build and maintain infrastructure and application components using modern engineering practices, including version control, automation, and CI/CD.
- Contribute to backend services and distributed systems spanning Go-based APIs, workflow orchestration, Python-based data transformation, and customer-facing application components.
- Collaborate with Implementation and Forward Deployed Engineering teams to understand customer onboarding challenges and turn recurring needs into scalable product capabilities.
- Establish and document engineering patterns, integration standards, error-handling conventions, and operational practices that enable the platform to scale sustainably.
- Support secure handling of sensitive employee and compensation data by applying appropriate security, privacy, and compliance practices.
- Troubleshoot complex cross-system issues by tracing data through APIs, workflows, transformations, and downstream systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in the integration platform, balancing immediate customer needs with long-term architectural scalability.
- 2+ years of experience building and shipping production software, with strong backend engineering fundamentals.
- Professional experience with Python and/or Go is preferred.
- Hands-on experience building or maintaining integrations with third-party APIs, including REST/SOAP, webhooks, OAuth, API keys, pagination, rate limiting, and changing upstream schemas.
- Experience building or supporting data pipelines and workflow orchestration involving scheduling, retries, sequencing, monitoring, and cross-system processing.
- Strong SQL skills and the ability to understand, query, transform, and reason about complex data models.
- Familiarity with HRIS, ATS, CRM, ERP, or comparable enterprise systems and their underlying data structures.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate unfamiliar APIs, trace problematic records through data pipelines, and identify the root cause of integration failures.
- Strong documentation habits and a commitment to making technical decisions, workflows, and solutions clear and accessible to others.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work directly with Customer Success, Implementation, and engineering teams to translate customer needs into effective technical solutions.
- Strong awareness of security, privacy, and compliance considerations when working with sensitive employee or compensation data.
- Comfortable working in a remote environment that requires proactive communication, ownership, and intentional relationship-building.
- Ability to work effectively in an evolving environment, navigate ambiguity, and take ownership of problems from discovery through resolution.
- Frontend development experience with TypeScript, React, or an equivalent framework is a plus.
- Experience with integration platforms or iPaaS tools such as Workato, Boomi, MuleSoft, Tray.io, or Celigo is advantageous.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration technologies such as Temporal or Airflow is desirable.
- Experience with file-based ingestion at scale, including SFTP, CSV, flat-file pipelines, and data validation, is a plus.
- Experience working with sensitive workforce, employee, or compensation data is highly valued.
- Competitive annual salary of approximately $106,000-$125,000 CAD, with final compensation based on experience and expertise.
- Annual equity opportunity, allowing employees to share in the organization’s success.
- Additional private medical coverage.
- Paid time off of 20 days annually, plus paid sick and safe time, compassion leave, and voting leave.
- Remote-first working arrangements for candidates located within commuting distance of Calgary.
- Opportunity to work on a critical data integration platform that serves as a foundation for customer analytics and business processes.
- Significant ownership and influence over the future direction of integration and data-ingestion capabilities.
- Opportunity to work with modern technologies across APIs, distributed systems, workflow orchestration, data transformation, and cloud-based platforms.
- Collaborative environment that values candor, curiosity, partnership, and continuous learning.
- Opportunity to work closely with engineering, implementation, customer success, and other teams while seeing the direct impact of your work.
- Clear opportunities to grow technical expertise and take on increasing ownership as the integration platform expands.
- Structured progression during the first 30, 60, and 90 days, moving from onboarding and smaller integration tasks toward independently managing integrations and designing advanced architectures.
