Profile match
Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Engineer, Data Governance based in India.

This is a senior data governance opportunity focused on strengthening the quality, accessibility, security, and value of critical HR data. You will help shape and execute a strategic data governance roadmap while driving measurable improvements in data quality and governance maturity. The role combines hands-on data analysis with governance strategy, metadata management, data lineage, data quality, and data access controls. You will work closely with senior leaders, business stakeholders, data teams, and technology partners to identify and resolve critical data challenges. The position also offers an opportunity to introduce AI and emerging technologies into data quality management and issue detection. Your work will help establish consistent data standards, improve decision-making, and create sustainable value across functions and geographies.

Accountabilities:

    • Deliver against the HR Data Governance strategy and roadmap, ensuring priorities translate into measurable business and customer value.
    • Develop, implement, and continuously improve Data Quality processes that enable proactive identification, prevention, and resolution of data issues.
    • Evolve existing Data Quality capabilities by exploring AI and emerging technologies, including AI-driven detection and analysis of data quality issues.
    • Own priority Data Quality and Data Domain requirements, working closely with the Data Governance Director and relevant stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
    • Establish and maintain frameworks, controls, metrics, and processes to improve data quality, security, profiling, and overall governance maturity.
    • Support metadata management activities, including data definitions, lineage, classification, catalog maintenance, and governance of critical HR data elements.
    • Support data access controls for global data products and contribute to the secure and appropriate use of organizational data.
    • Identify gaps, risks, opportunities, and critical data issues across HR data, implementing controls to detect problems before they affect downstream users or business processes.
    • Harmonize data definitions and flows across functions and geographies while identifying and addressing global issues involving critical data attributes and elements.
    • Develop reporting, dashboards, analytics, and KPIs that provide senior leadership with clear visibility into Data Quality priorities, risks, progress, and governance maturity.
    • Establish measurable KPIs and key results to track improvements in Data Quality and the effectiveness of governance initiatives.
    • Engage with HR, BI & Analytics, Finance, customers, users, and business leaders to understand data opportunities and translate them into actionable governance priorities.
    • Prioritize data opportunities and communicate requirements, dependencies, risks, decisions, and mitigation plans clearly to the appropriate stakeholders.
    • Support broader Data Governance capabilities spanning Metadata Management, Data Lineage, Master Data Management, Data Quality, Data Architecture, and Data Product development.
    • Ensure adherence to relevant data policies, standards, and guidelines while maintaining governance artefacts such as data catalogs, classifications, definitions, and data quality standards.
    • Requirements:

      • 6+ years of total professional experience, including at least 3 years in data-focused or project-oriented roles such as Data Management, Data Governance, a CDO Office, or BI & Analytics.
      • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
      • Strong knowledge of data quality tools, databases, data warehousing, and data analysis techniques.
      • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in SQL, Snowflake, and data visualization tools such as Tableau.
      • Hands-on experience with Data Governance technologies, particularly data catalog and data quality platforms such as Informatica Data Catalog or comparable solutions.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify complex data quality issues, determine root causes, and develop practical solutions.
      • Understanding of recognized Data Governance frameworks and industry best practices, such as DAMA’s DMBoK, CDMP, or the EDM Council’s DCAM.
      • Knowledge of HR data domains and constructs is preferred, with familiarity with systems such as Workday, iCIMS, Eightfold.ai, Oracle, or SAP considered an advantage.
      • Solid understanding of modern data technologies and the ability to connect technical data concepts with business requirements and outcomes.
      • Experience developing data governance frameworks, KPIs, dashboards, controls, or maturity metrics is highly valuable.
      • Ability to work across multiple functions and geographies while engaging effectively with business, technical, and senior leadership stakeholders.
      • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to explain complex data issues clearly and drive alignment around priorities.
      • High level of precision, attention to detail, ownership, and accountability.
      • Passion for solving business-oriented data challenges from identification through implementation and measurable outcomes.
      • Ability to proactively identify risks, make informed recommendations, and work effectively in an evolving, collaborative environment.
      • Benefits:

        • Opportunity to play a strategic role in shaping and advancing an enterprise HR Data Governance strategy.
        • Exposure to modern data technologies including Snowflake, data catalogs, data quality platforms, analytics, and AI-driven governance capabilities.
        • Opportunity to work on high-impact initiatives involving Data Quality, Metadata Management, Data Lineage, Master Data Management, Data Security, and Data Architecture.
        • Collaboration with senior leadership and stakeholders across HR, Finance, BI & Analytics, and other business functions.
        • Global working environment with exposure to data challenges spanning multiple functions and geographies.
        • Opportunities to influence data governance maturity, standards, controls, and long-term data strategy.
        • Professional growth through ownership of complex, business-critical data initiatives.
        • Opportunity to contribute to innovative applications of AI and emerging technologies in Data Quality management.
        • Competitive compensation and benefits package aligned with the role and location.
        • Inclusive and collaborative work environment focused on continuous learning, innovation, and meaningful business impact.
