The EHS Manager is responsible for leading Vermont Creamery's health, safety, and environmental programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with Land O'Lakes corporate standards. This role drives a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement while partnering across Operations, Quality, Finance, Human Resources, and Supply Chain to support business objectives and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all site safety, health, and environmental programs, policies, training, and compliance initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Develop and execute site EHS strategies, annual plans, and performance improvement initiatives aligned with corporate standards.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, risk assessments, corrective actions, and regulatory reporting.
- Oversee environmental compliance programs, including wastewater, stormwater, waste management, permits, spill prevention, and sustainability initiatives.
- Partner with plant leadership to drive a strong safety culture, continuous improvement, and operational performance.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies, contractors, and corporate EHS teams to maintain compliance and support strategic initiatives.
- Lead and develop safety committees and cross-functional teams to build organizational capability and accountability.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.
- Five or more years of EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing environment; experience supporting facilities with 100+ employees preferred.
- Experience with environmental compliance, wastewater management, and sustainability initiatives preferred.
- Professional certifications such as ASP, CHMM, REM, IHIT, or related credentials preferred.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of safety, environmental compliance, wastewater systems, ergonomics, and behavior-based safety.
- Proven leadership, problem-solving, project management, and change management skills.
- Strong communication, influencing, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, EHS regulations, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma preferred).
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to building high-performing teams and an injury-free workplace.
Salary Range: $93,360 - $140,040. In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges.
