Sustainability Process Engineering Specialist

The Sustainability Manufacturing Process Engineer will be a key contributor to Logitech's environmental and manufacturing excellence goals, working on-site near partner manufacturing facilities in Suzhou. This role will primarily focus on driving sustainable manufacturing practices for across all logitech's product lines, while also supporting sustainability initiatives across other categories such as webcams, headsets, and gaming peripherals.

The engineer will bridge the gap between product design intent and manufacturing execution, ensuring that sustainability commitments made during product development - including Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) outcomes - are faithfully translated into scalable, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible production processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with manufacturing sites to implement and monitor processes that reduce environmental impact, including energy consumption, water use, waste generation, and material efficiency.
• Support and contribute to Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) studies for mice, keyboards, and other peripherals, working closely with global sustainability and product design teams to validate assumptions against real manufacturing data.
• Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to improve sustainability performance, including energy sourcing, emissions reduction, and waste diversion programs.
• Drive continuous improvement projects (using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies) that simultaneously improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce environmental footprint.
• Support carbon footprint data collection and reporting for products, contributing to Logitech's carbon labeling initiative and corporate sustainability disclosures.
• Work cross-functionally with Global Operations, R&D, Packaging Engineering, and Quality teams to embed sustainability into New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
• Conduct on-site audits and assessments at manufacturing partner facilities to verify compliance with Logitech's sustainability standards and identify improvement opportunities.
• Track and report key sustainability metrics (e.g., CO2e per unit, recycled content %, energy intensity) for mice and keyboard product lines.
• Stay current on regional and international environmental regulations, industry standards (e.g., ISO 14040/14044 for LCA), and best practices in sustainable electronics manufacturing.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, process engineering, or sustainability-focused engineering role, preferably within consumer electronics or hardware industries.
• Demonstrated experience or coursework in Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), including familiarity with LCA software tools (e.g., SimaPro, GaBi, or openLCA) and standards such as ISO 14040/14044.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to injection molding, PCB assembly, and electromechanical product assembly (experience with mice/keyboard manufacturing is a strong plus).
• Working knowledge of materials sustainability topics, including recycled plastics (PCR), bio-based materials, and packaging sustainability.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret environmental data and translate it into actionable manufacturing improvements.
• Excellent cross-cultural communication skills; fluency in English and Mandarin required, given close coordination with both global teams and local manufacturing partners.
• Willingness to travel periodically to manufacturing sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related sustainability, environmental, or engineering discipline.
• Professional certification in LCA (e.g., from SCS Global or an accredited LCA training program).
• Experience with carbon footprint accounting and product carbon labeling initiatives.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
• Prior experience working directly with contract manufacturers (CMs) or original design manufacturers (ODMs) in China.
