Your Team, Your Impact

As a Silicon Photonics Intern in the Optical Interconnect team, you will contribute to silicon photonics devices and integrated circuits that power next-generation high-speed optical links for AI and cloud data centers.

What You Can Expect

• Work with the optical component / photonic integrated circuit design flow used in industry.
• Work with the design constraints and trade-offs that must be considered in industry.
• Design, simulate and model innovative silicon photonic devices (e.g., modulators, photodetectors, waveguides, couplers, filters) and high-speed optical interfaces, taking industry requirements into account.
• Support characterization and validation of silicon photonic devices and correlate measurements with simulation and models.
• Analyze and present data and ideas to the team and to a diverse audience.
• Collaborate with design, packaging, test and product teams.

What We're Looking For

• Student in a Ph.D. degree program in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Optical Engineering or a related field.
• Solid understanding of one or more of the following: 1. Semiconductor optical devices such as modulators, detectors, lasers and other waveguide devices, with familiarity or direct experience of optical simulation software tools and/or optical device modeling. 2. Semiconductor packaging/integration technology such as signal/power integrity, heterogeneous integration, mechanical and assembly processes.
• Ability to present data and ideas to a diverse audience.
• Preferred: Python/MATLAB for data analysis and automation; hands-on experience with optical lab measurements.
