About the Team
MediaTek’s IoT Business Unit is building the next-generation software foundation for Arm SoC platforms. The scope spans early chip bring-up, boot flow, secure firmware, and end-to-end Linux system integration, including boot firmware, kernel, Yocto, Ubuntu, and Debian solutions that are maintainable, scalable, and aligned with the standard Linux ecosystem.
We are looking for a Senior Embedded Platform Software Engineer. In this role, you will work closely with hardware design, system architecture, validation, and operating system teams to bring Arm platforms from the bare-metal stage to a stable, production-ready system software environment.
You will also help drive software standardization and participate in upstream activities, enabling long-term maintainability of system software in mainline projects and supporting the diverse product requirements and long lifecycle of IoT markets.
If you are excited to work with a passionate and talented team to build world-class Arm-based Linux system software, this will be an excellent environment and challenge for you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead early bring-up for Arm SoC platforms, starting from bare-metal programs, memory initialization, UART, timer, interrupt, and other foundational peripherals to establish a debuggable environment.
- Integrate and customize Arm Trusted Firmware-A (TF-A), including BL1 / BL2 / BL31 boot flow, secure monitor, exception level transitions, and platform-specific initialization.
- Port, configure, and debug U-Boot to support storage devices, networking, Device Tree, boot parameters, and Linux kernel boot flow.
- Integrate Linux kernel and platform support, including Device Tree, driver bring-up, SMP boot, power management, and system stability validation.
- Implement and validate Arm PSCI interfaces to support CPU on/off, system reset, suspend/resume, and other power management and multi-core control features.
- Analyze low-level boot issues using JTAG, trace, serial logs, logic analyzers, and other tools for debugging and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, OS, and validation teams to define platform boot flow, debugging strategy, and pre-production software quality standards.
- Drive TF-A driver upstreaming so that platform support can stay aligned with the open-source community and mainline development over the long term.
- Own the architecture design and development of built-in RISC-V firmware inside the SoC.
