Project Title

Superior Copper Sputter Enablement on HBM Metallization

Project Description

With increasingly advanced technology scaling and higher performance requirements, the metallization process requires continuous innovation to meet stringent electrical, reliability, and manufacturability targets. To support future product roadmaps and capacity expansion, there is a need to enable advanced copper deposition capability as an improved manufacturing platform for metallization. This effort requires comprehensive process development, hardware qualification, integration assessment, and defectivity optimization to achieve process equivalency while maintaining yield, reliability, and cost competitiveness.

The project will leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI), Micron manufacturing systems, and advanced data analytics to perform extensive characterization, validation, and predictive insights across process conditions. The intern will work closely with engineering teams to evaluate process performance, identify optimization opportunities, and develop data-driven solutions that improve manufacturing robustness and readiness for high-volume production.

This internship will provide opportunities for consideration for future full-time employment based on performance and business needs.

Project Scope

• Support advanced copper sputter process development for next-generation HBM metallization.
• Perform process characterization, hardware qualification, and integration assessments.
• Leverage AI tools, Micron manufacturing systems, and data analytics techniques to identify performance trends and generate actionable insights.
• Conduct statistical analysis and machine learning-based evaluations to improve process understanding and decision-making.
• Support defect reduction, yield enhancement, and manufacturing readiness activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional Process Integration, Manufacturing, Equipment, and Quality teams.

Skills Required

• Basic understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods.
• Familiarity with AI concepts and AI-enabled tools for data analytics and decision support.
• Experience with programming or data analytics tools (Python, Power BI, SQL, JMP, or equivalent) is advantageous.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Course of Interest

The ideal candidate should be pursuing Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Duration

The ideal candidate should be able to commit to a full-time internship period of 4 months.
