Project Title

Artificial Intelligence Data Harness for End-to-End Ramp Intelligence and Business Operations Planning

Project Description

The Storage Technology and Products Group Product Engineering organization is at the forefront of developing Micron’s storage technologies and products. The Business Operations team drives strategic planning and operational excellence across key domains, including research and development cost management, operational expense planning, workforce management, metrics governance, and capital expenditure optimization.

Under the guidance of experienced team members, the selected intern will contribute to a structured project to develop an Artificial Intelligence-enabled data harness platform. The platform will integrate relevant business-planning data and enable intelligent decision support for quarterly planning activities.

This project offers an opportunity to apply Artificial Intelligence, data engineering, and business analytics to defined business-planning challenges within a global semiconductor research and development environment.

Objective of the Project

• Develop an integrated data foundation for selected business-planning and product-ramp information.
• Apply Artificial Intelligence and analytics techniques to improve planning visibility, traceability, and scenario evaluation.
• Create a project prototype that demonstrates data-driven decision support for resource and cost planning.
• Document the project methodology, findings, limitations, and recommendations for future development.

Project Scope

• Develop an understanding of research and development budgeting, resource planning, and business operations processes within the Storage Technology and Products Group Product Engineering organization.
• Design and build a prototype of an Artificial Intelligence-enabled integrated data harness that consolidates selected data from multiple business-planning sources.
• Develop appropriate data structures, integration workflows, and analytical views to improve visibility and traceability across the product lifecycle, from technology development through product ramp and manufacturing execution.
• Apply Artificial Intelligence and analytics techniques to selected use cases involving scenario modelling, planning accuracy, decision-making, and resource optimization.

Learning Opportunities

• Gain hands-on experience applying Artificial Intelligence, data engineering, and business analytics to defined business-planning challenges.
• Develop an understanding of semiconductor research and development operations, strategic resource planning, cost planning, and product-ramp management.
• Learn how to develop and evaluate an Artificial Intelligence-enabled solution within an enterprise environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, operations, and business stakeholders under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Deliverables

• A functional prototype of an Artificial Intelligence-enabled data harness for selected product-ramp and resource-planning use cases.
• Integrated data views or workflows that demonstrate business planning, forecasting, and end-to-end traceability.
• A scenario-analysis and decision-support capability for defined planning use cases.
• Technical documentation and a final presentation summarizing the solution design, findings, limitations, and recommendations.

Impact of the Project

• Improve visibility and traceability across selected development, ramp, resource, and cost-planning activities.
• Demonstrate how integrated data and Artificial Intelligence-enabled analytics may improve planning efficiency and scenario evaluation.
• Provide a documented prototype and recommendations that may inform future development of business-planning capabilities.

Skillsets Required

• Proficiency in Python, Structured Query Language, and data analytics.
• Familiarity with Generative Artificial Intelligence, large language models, Artificial Intelligence agents, retrieval-augmented generation, and prompt-engineering concepts.
• Experience with data visualization and analytics tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills.
• Knowledge of cloud-based Artificial Intelligence or data platforms, such as Azure AI, Microsoft Fabric, or Databricks, is advantageous.

Course of Interest

The ideal candidate should be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.

Duration of Period

The ideal candidate should be able to commit to a full time internship period of six months.
