Project Title

NAND Silicon Design Validation and Automated Data Analysis

Project Description

The intern will undertake a structured engineering project focused on the silicon design validation of advanced NAND products.

Under the guidance of experienced engineers, the intern will develop an understanding of NAND operations, Verilog simulation, validation planning, laboratory measurement techniques, and silicon validation data analysis. The intern will gain practical exposure to testers, oscilloscopes, probe stations, scripting tools, and approved in-house engineering software.

The project will also provide opportunities to explore Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning-enabled workflows for validation data collection, report generation, and anomaly detection. The intern’s activities will be limited to the assigned project and conducted with appropriate supervision.

Objective of the Project

• Develop an understanding of NAND operations and silicon design validation methodologies.
• Apply circuit and feature knowledge to develop a structured validation plan.
• Collect and analyze silicon validation data using appropriate laboratory equipment and engineering software.
• Develop a scripting or AI-enabled prototype that improves the efficiency, accuracy, or consistency of selected validation activities.

Project Scope

• Study an assigned NAND feature or design circuit and document its intended functionality and validation requirements.
• Perform Verilog simulations to understand expected circuit or feature behaviour.
• Develop a customized validation plan and conduct defined measurements using testers, oscilloscopes, probe stations, or other relevant equipment.
• Analyze collected validation data and generate technical reports using scripts and approved in-house software.
• Develop a prototype workflow for automated data collection, report generation, or anomaly detection using scripting and relevant Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning techniques.

Learning Opportunities

• Gain foundational knowledge of NAND operations, silicon design validation responsibilities, and validation methodologies.
• Develop practical experience in Verilog simulation, laboratory measurement, waveform interpretation, and validation data analysis.
• Learn how to translate circuit or feature requirements into measurable validation conditions and test plans.
• Gain exposure to scripting, Generative Artificial Intelligence, large language models, AI Assistants, and Agentic AI workflows for engineering applications.

Deliverables

• A documented validation plan for the assigned NAND feature or design circuit.
• Verilog simulation results and an analysis of expected circuit or feature behaviour.
• A structured validation dataset and technical analysis based on defined silicon measurements.
• A prototype script or AI-enabled workflow for validation data analysis, report generation, or waveform anomaly detection.
• A final technical report and presentation covering the project methodology, findings, limitations, and recommendations.

• Improve the efficiency and consistency of selected silicon design validation activities.
• Enhance the visibility and accuracy of validation data analysis and technical reporting.
• Demonstrate how scripting and AI-enabled workflows may reduce manual data processing and improve anomaly identification.

Skillsets Required

• Basic knowledge of digital electronics, semiconductor devices, circuit design, or computer architecture.
• Familiarity with Verilog or another hardware description language.
• Programming or scripting experience in Python, Perl, C, C++, or a similar language.
• Familiarity with data analysis, waveform analysis, Generative AI, Machine Learning, or large language model-based workflows is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills.

Course of Interest

The ideal candidate should be pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Microelectronics, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Duration of Period

The ideal candidate should be able to commit to a full time internship period of 5 months.
