Intern – Procurement Cost Analyst

Using data-driven insights, market intelligence, and AI-enabled solutions, the team delivers value across Micron's global operations while fostering a collaborative culture focused on innovation and continuous improvement.

As a Procurement Cost Analyst Intern, you will support procurement initiatives that improve decision-making and deliver value across construction and capital project categories. You will gain hands-on experience in cost analysis, should-cost modeling, market intelligence, benchmarking, and AI-enabled process improvements while partnering with global procurement and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Support cost analysis and should-cost modeling activities for construction, facilities, tool installation, equipment, and related procurement categories.
• Gather, analyze, and summarize market intelligence, pricing data, benchmarks, and industry trends to support procurement strategies and business decisions.
• Collaborate with Category Managers, Program Managers, and business partners to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
• Assist with procurement analytics, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and category performance.
• Leverage AI-enabled tools and technologies to support data analysis, process automation, benchmarking activities, and procurement decision-making.

Minimum Qualifications

• 0-2 years of relevant experience through internships, research projects, coursework, co-ops, or academic projects in procurement, construction, engineering, project management, supply chain, analytics, or related fields.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Expected graduation date of September 2027 or later.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical and financial data.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other business productivity tools for analysis and presentations.
• Demonstrated proficiency using AI-enabled tools and large language models (LLMs), including Copilot, Claude, or similar technologies for analysis, data extraction, process improvement, or automation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across teams.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, global, and collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework, internship, project, or research experience in construction management, engineering, procurement, sourcing, quantity surveying, cost estimation, or project management.
• Experience with cost analysis, benchmarking, market research, should-cost modeling, or procurement analytics.
• Familiarity with construction projects, facilities systems, capital equipment, tool installation, or industrial infrastructure environments.
• Experience applying AI, automation, data analytics, or digital technologies to improve business processes and decision-making.
• Strong presentation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated leadership through academic projects, student organizations, internships, work experience, or community involvement.
