Microsoft is an American multinational technology corporation founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen and headquartered in Redmond, Washington. It built the personal computing era around the Windows operating system and the Office productivity suite, and now generates the largest share of its revenue from Azure cloud infrastructure and commercial subscriptions. The company also owns GitHub, LinkedIn and the Xbox gaming business, and has invested heavily in artificial intelligence through its partnership with OpenAI and the Copilot assistants embedded across its products.
Overview

Microsoft’s Audit, Risk and Compliance (ARC) organization is building data-driven capabilities to complement traditional assurance. The Common Controls Team (CCT) advances this mission through governed control testing, reliable evidence, and actionable insights, as it works toward full-population coverage of in-scope controls.

The Technical Program Manager, Data Analytics, sits at the intersection of analytics, automation, and audit context. The role connects fragmented data sources, translates control requirements into repeatable analytical tests, and uses Python and Kusto/KQL to analyze control populations, validate results and produce traceable evidence.

Beyond traditional reporting, you will build reusable automation and dependable reporting data that make testing more repeatable and reduce key-person dependence. Success means defensible evidence, clear insight into control signals and sustainable solutions, developed in partnership with audit, engineering, and program operations colleagues.

At Microsoft, our mission-to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more-guides how we partner with customers to deliver trusted, impactful solutions. With a growth mindset culture, we innovate responsibly and measure success by shared progress-people, teams, and customers. Join us to do meaningful work that changes the world and helps shape what’s next for everyone.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze control populations with Kusto/KQL to identify exceptions, systemic patterns and signals that merit further investigation.
  • Develop and test analytical hypotheses iteratively; document assumptions, methods and limitations, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Connect disparate data sources through secure API (Application Programming Interface) and system integrations to support automated testing and reporting.
  • Assess data quality, completeness, and fitness for testing; reconcile populations and results, and partner with data owners to resolve or escalate gaps.
  • Build reusable Python automation that converts control requirements into reproducible tests and traceable, defensible evidence.
  • Maintain version-controlled testing and reporting pipelines in Azure DevOps, with clear runbooks and operational support for reliable repeat execution.
  • Translate validated results into reliable reporting datasets, dashboards and clear narratives that support monthly reporting and quarterly cybersecurity leadership insights.
  • Collaborate with audit, business, data engineering and program operations colleagues to refine tests, interpret signals, and support control improvements.
  • Apply Microsoft privacy, security, responsible AI (artificial intelligence), data classification and governance standards throughout analysis, integration and evidence handling.
  • Embody our culture and values
