NBN Co is the Australian government-owned company that built and operates the National Broadband Network, the country's wholesale open-access data network. It sells access to retail service providers rather than directly to households, delivering connections over fibre to the premises, fibre to the node and curb, hybrid fibre coaxial cable, fixed wireless and satellite to almost every address in Australia. Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Sydney, it employs network and security engineers, customer field technicians and regional engagement staff in every state and territory.

Job Expectations

We are looking for candidates based in the Wagga Wagga area, including those with trade, technical, and hands on practical backgrounds who may be considering a career change. People with experience in plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, construction, civils, hospitality, customer service, manufacturing, and similar industries have all thrived in this position. Safety is at the core of everything we do, and we’re looking for people who value working safely, following procedures, and looking out for their teammates and customers.

If you think this could be you, nbn can utilise your experience to develop you into a Customer Field Technician as part of our internal workforce.

Be a part of transforming Australia’s digital landscape. In this hands-on, customer-facing role, you’ll help connect homes and communities and see the difference you make every day.

A bit about your role

As a Customer Field Technician in Wagga Wagga, you will work independently on customer service field tasks across a range of nbn technologies. This role involves installation, repair, maintenance, and direct customer interaction, primarily within homes and business premises.

Your day may include tasks such as installing copper and fibre cabling, completing customer premises equipment installations, diagnosing and repairing faults, and providing a high level of customer service. Working hours fall between 7am and 7pm, with flexibility applied based on business needs. Training, tools, and ongoing support will be provided.

A bit about you

Previous telecommunications experience is not required. We will teach you the technical skills required. What matters most is your ability to work with your hands, solve problems, and communicate well with customers.

You may have a background in a trade, hands-on technical role, or a customer-focused environment. Experience from trades such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, general labouring, construction, mechanical work, hospitality, or manufacturing is highly valued.

You should be comfortable working independently, managing your time, and taking pride in delivering quality work. Strong communication skills and a current and clean Driver’s Licence are also important.
