Electrical designer

This role is ideal for a technically strong individual with excellent electrical design capabilities, attention to detail, and experience producing accurate, high-quality engineering documentation using EPLAN.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and produce detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical control drawings using EPLAN.
• Design electrical control panels, distribution boards, and control systems in accordance with project specifications.
• Prepare electrical layouts, cable schedules, terminal plans, bills of materials (BOMs), and associated engineering documentation.
• Interpret electrical specifications, functional requirements, and engineering drawings.
• Ensure all electrical designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety requirements, and applicable electrical regulations.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers, panel builders, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Incorporate design changes and maintain accurate drawing revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist with component selection, cable sizing, circuit protection, and the specification of electrical equipment.
• Support manufacturing and panel-building teams by providing technical clarification and resolving design-related queries.
• Conduct design reviews and quality checks to ensure drawing accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
• Provide technical support during installation, testing, commissioning, and fault-finding activities when required.
• Maintain organised engineering documentation and ensure project deliverables are completed within agreed deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, or a related technical discipline.
• Demonstrable proficiency in EPLAN Electric P8.
• Experience producing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and detailed electrical engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of electrical control systems, electrical components, and control panel design.
• Ability to interpret electrical standards, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and a systematic approach to electrical design.
• Excellent problem-solving and technical communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a broader engineering team.
