The Role

We are hiring a VP, Presales & Consulting to sit at the intersection of sales, consulting and AI innovation, and to own the conversion layer that turns strategic opportunities into scoped, qualified, revenue-generating engagements. This is a business-first, AI-led role - one that shapes and closes complex deals and builds the solutions capability behind them.

You will work independently with prospects to drive conversion, set up and run billable consulting engagements, and take the solutioning and commercial-structuring load off regional leadership. You understand our business deeply, are fluent across both business and technology, and are well versed in AI.

You will be accountable for improving win rates, deal value and client confidence through value-led engagement - and for building the presales and solutions function beneath you, including the Principal AI Solutions Consultant and the wider bench.

You will:

• Convert independently - work prospects from problem-shaping through to closed, scoped opportunity
• Set up and run billable consulting engagements, owning quality and early value realisation
• Own commercial structuring - scoping, pricing and SoW sign-off
• Build and lead the solutions and presales function
• Bring credibility across C-suite, business and technical stakeholders

What You’ll Do

Independent Deal Conversion & Value Engineering

• Lead discovery with senior stakeholders to identify business problems, inefficiencies and growth opportunities
• Translate client challenges into clear, quantified value cases (ROI, cost reduction, revenue uplift)
• Work prospects independently through to conversion - not only supporting a seller, but owning the outcome
• Operate effectively in ambiguous environments, structuring unclear problems into actionable hypotheses

AI-Led Solutioning & Storytelling

• Design and position AI-driven use cases, including:

• Data platform modernisation
• AI/ML and GenAI applications
• Agentic workflows and automation

• Rapidly design and build AI-powered prototypes and demos (e.g. using GenAI platforms, low-code/no-code and prototyping tools) to bring solutions to life

• Balance speed vs perfection - prioritising clarity of value over fully engineered solutions

• Present in a way that resonates with:

• C-suite (business impact)
• Functional leaders (use cases)
• Technical teams (architecture credibility)

Consulting Engagement Setup & Delivery (Billable)

• Set up, structure and lead early-stage consulting engagements (value discovery, pilots, advisory) that validate hypotheses and demonstrate measurable impact
• Be billable on consulting work - a credible senior practitioner, not only a presales resource
• Manage engagements to early value realisation, acting as the bridge between what we sell and what we deliver

Commercial Ownership

• Own scoping, pricing, packaging and SoW sign-off for the opportunities you shape
• Ensure what we sell is both compelling and deliverable, protecting margin and delivery quality

Team Leadership & Function Building

• Lead, mentor and grow the solutions and presales bench, including the Principal AI Solutions Consultant
• Build reusable solution frameworks and presales assets, and a repeatable conversion process
• Deputise on solutioning and provide structured feedback to sales and marketing to refine positioning and GTM

Thought Leadership & Market Positioning

• Stay at the forefront of:
• AI (GenAI, Agentic AI, ML Ops)
• Data platforms (GCP, Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.)
• Industry-specific use cases
• Contribute to NowVertical’s positioning through POVs, case studies, client workshops and industry conversations

Who You Are

Required

• 15+ years in solutions consulting, presales, value engineering or client-facing consulting leadership
• Track record of independently shaping and closing complex enterprise deals - owning conversion, not just supporting it
• Experience setting up and running billable consulting engagements in data, analytics or AI-led environments
• Proven credibility across business and technology, with deep fluency in AI-led transformation
• Deep familiarity across modern cloud data ecosystems (GCP, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake).

• Owns commercial structuring - scoping, pricing and SoWs - and can articulate business cases in client conversations

• Proven ability to identify and shape AI-led business use cases (GenAI, Agentic AI, automation)
• Fluency with the modern data stack (Azure, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.); must credibly architect, demonstrate and position solutions. Bonus if this is on GCP.

• Exceptional communication: simplifies complexity and influences senior stakeholders
• Moves from problem to insight to solution to value, and can challenge and reframe problem statements
