NXP Semiconductors is a Dutch chipmaker established in 2006 when Philips spun out its semiconductor division, and it concentrates on embedded processing rather than general purpose computing. Its largest market is automotive, where it supplies radar sensors, vehicle networking, battery management and the secure processors behind keyless entry and digital car keys, alongside industrial and internet of things microcontrollers, mobile secure elements and communications infrastructure silicon. Headquartered in Eindhoven and listed on Nasdaq, it is one of the leading suppliers of near field communication and automotive processing chips in the world.
Role Purpose
Execute standardized, repeatable Trade Compliance activities as part of NXP’s global Trade Compliance Operations team. The initial focus is product classification, including ECCN under the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and HS classification, using approved playbooks, tools and evidence standards.
This role is intended for analytical, high-potential professionals with relevant Trade Compliance experience or clear affinity with the field who want to build their expertise and grow their careers within NXP. It requires attention to detail, sound judgement, documentation discipline and comfort working with technical product information.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute assigned product classification and Trade Compliance activities using documented playbooks, procedures, and decision frameworks.
- Gather, review, and validate technical product information and supporting documentation required for classification.
- Collect, review and validate the technical product data and supporting documentation required for ECCN and HS classification.
Secondary and future Responsibilities
- Conduct KYC and due diligence reviews for customers, suppliers, distributors, and other business partners, investigating and escalating potential Trade Compliance risks.
- Investigate, assess, and resolve denied-party screening matches, escalating potential concerns where required.
- Apply escalation rules consistently and route cases outside established guidance through the defined escalation process.
- Support quality routines and identify opportunities to improve playbooks, data quality, and operational controls.
- Contribute to process standardization, automation, scalability, and the responsible use of AI-enabled tools.
- Collaborate with the KL Operations Manager, Operations Control Tower, global Trade Compliance teams and other relevant stakeholders to ensure consistent execution and smooth handoffs.
Qualifications / Experience
- Typically 2-5 years of experience in Trade Compliance, Export Controls, (Product) Classification, Customs Compliance or a closely related compliance environment.
- Trade Compliance experience or demonstrated affinity with the field is required; familiarity with classification and ECCN/EAR requirements is strongly preferred.
- Ability to understand technical product documentation and apply structured regulatory guidance.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, learning agility and documentation discipline.
- Comfort working with structured processes, controls, systems and escalation frameworks.
- Interest in continuous improvement, automation, data and AI-enabled ways of working.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Trade, Supply Chain, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Language
- Fluent English, written and spoken, is required.
- The ability to speak, read and write Mandarin Chinese is a strong advantage.
