Job Description
Key Result Areas / Outputs:
RMCP Oversight (Section 42 Compliance)
Oversee the implementation and effectiveness of the Group RMCP, ensuring appropriate customisation for AI’s and alignment to section 42 of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act across applicable entities.
Policy Governance
Develop, maintain and oversee AML, CTF, CPF and sanctions-related policies, standards, Risk Assessments and guidance documents. Ensure alignment with the FIC Act, Guidance Notes, PCCs, Directives, Joint Standards and FATF requirements, while ensuring practical implementation across business operations.
Regulatory Advisory
Provide compliance advice on the interpretation and application of AML, CTF, CPF and sanctions requirements, ensuring translation into practical controls and procedures.
Oversight of Monitoring and Reporting
Provide second line oversight of transaction monitoring, screening, investigations and regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with applicable legislative requirements and timelines.
Sanctions Compliance
Oversee adherence to targeted financial sanctions requirements across jurisdictions, including screening, escalation and decision making.
Training Oversight (Section 43 Compliance)
Ensure AML, CTF and CPF training is risk based, role appropriate and compliant with section 43 requirements and equivalent in country obligations.
Management Information
Oversee the provision of accurate and meaningful AML related management information to support oversight and regulatory engagement.
Risk Based Approach
Drive the consistent application of a risk-based approach across customer due diligence, ongoing monitoring, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring and regulatory compliance activities. Provide oversight of risk assessment methodologies and risk appetite alignment.
Requirements: Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:
Tertiary Legal or Commercial qualifications
Post graduate qualification
Demonstrated experience with senior stakeholders e.g. heads of business and executive management
Advanced and demonstrable knowledge of AML, CTF and CPF.
Certificate in AML or ACAMS certification would be advantageous.
Skills and Experience
An excellent communicator who can adapt to different levels of audience expertise and different sizes of audiences in both their written and verbal communication.

Role Overview:
This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with applicable Anti Money Laundering, Counter Terrorist Financing and Counter Proliferation Financing obligations, with a primary focus on South Africa, while also supporting broader Group Accountable Institutions where required.
The role is anchored in the requirements of section 42 of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, with accountability for overseeing the implementation and ongoing effectiveness of the Group Risk Management and Compliance Programme (RMCP), tailored and applied across the relevant Group entities.
The role sits within Group Compliance and provides independent second line oversight, regulatory guidance and assurance. This includes ensuring alignment to Group standards, while taking into account in country legislative requirements and regulatory expectations across multiple jurisdictions.
