Job Description:
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) student-employee position for Oregon State University’s College of Liberal Arts (CLA).
The Student Photographer will capture engaging and impactful visual assets to be used on CLA’s websites, and social media campaigns, as well as on printed posters, fliers, brochures, and more. The Student Photographer will be assigned projects by members of CLA’s Marketing and Communications team to capture images of people, events, and activities that represent the college. This position will also provide support to CLA’s senior visual designers, assisting on larger scale shoots and projects.
Position Duties
80% - Photography
Schedule, manage, and shoot high-quality digital images as requested to meet the needs for use in social media, marketing materials, and feature stories. Direct photo shoots as needed or work under direction of department team members.
15% - Editing
Digitally edit photos in a timely manner using photo editing software of choice to fit the needs of department team members.
5% - Management of Visual Assets
Assist in managing the college’s visual assets, including cataloging, organizing, and keywording photos and videos. Secure and manage model releases for all shoots.

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by theOffice of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Required
Experience capturing and editing high-quality digital photographs for diverse audiences and applications
Ability to independently manage assignments, schedules, and deadlines
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, as well as follow through on commitments
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with individuals and groups during when shooting
Preferred
Preferably earning a degree in a related field such as photography, graphic design, communication, journalism, film, media production, art, etc.
A strong portfolio of photo samples
Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends
