Advanced Associate, Compensation
Core Tasks & Responsibilities
Oversee the weekly PAYE payroll & pensions process for c.30k workers (c.£70 million annually) ensuring all timescales and deadlines are met
Ensure that delegated processes are documented, updated, and adhered to and operate within relevant company and regulatory requirements including HMRC, DWP and Ofqual standards
Seek out and champion continuous improvement of all processes by engaging with stakeholders and identifying changes in business needs and requirements
- Support on any technical/process issues which may cause a block or inefficiency/inaccuracy to the payroll process by liaising with technical teams and key stakeholders
- Manage individual schedule of work activities for each area of responsibility, feeding into departmental business calendars as appropriate
- Manage the accurate setup of payments systems and fees ahead of processing timelines i.e. iSeries, ePEN2, Marker Payments Database, IQS and ADP Freedom)
- Oversee and Quality check payment files produced by Coordinators, including international/foreign currency fees and expenses within strict deadlines with 100% accuracy
Maintain communication channels and positive working relationships with all first and third party stakeholders and suppliers such as ADP, NEST & AA Finance (IBM)
Interact with offshore Associate Helpdesk team via chat, email, and CRM ticketing system (Salesforce CRM) offering advice on best practice, ongoing knowledge sharing and updates on issues and trends which may impact query volumes
- Support with compose responses and manage escalated cases to resolution for customer queries within SLA and using an appropriate tone of voice
Manage the on-boarding and training of new team members including offshore teams (Manila) and temporary staff
Support with compilingdetailed annual evidence reporting for auditing purposes to adhere with Sarbanes Oxley compliance
Education, Qualifications and Training
- Must be educated to a degree level or equivalent (essential)

Previous Work Experience
- Experience managing and manipulating large datasets with a high level of accuracy (Essential)
- Query/complaint handling and responding within agreed timescale (essential)
- History of working in constantly changing environment and ability to multi task (essential)
- Working in a global payroll team (desirable)
- Working remotely with on and offsite global teams
Technical Knowledge
- Awareness of Pearson Qualification Services, the business and general education issues (desirable)
- Awareness of regulations and legislations around payroll and pensions, including DWP & HMRC (desirable)
IT Literacy
- Intermediate MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel (essential)
