Help shape the platform behind PEXA Go
We’re looking for a hands-on Lead AWS Platform Engineer to join the PEXA Go team. You’ll help shape the platform’s strategy and architecture, then turn that direction into reliable, secure and well-supported infrastructure.
This is a strong individual contributor role. You’ll work closely with platform and software engineers, product teams and operational colleagues, bringing the technical ownership and follow-through to keep platform work moving.
What You'll Do
- Turn platform strategy, architecture and standards into practical plans and working solutions.
- Design, build and improve AWS services that support PEXA Go, including EKS, RDS and Aurora, MSK, S3, IAM and core networking.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, along with the pipelines that deploy it.
- Plan and deliver platform upgrades, lifecycle work and technical improvements.
- Improve platform reliability, resilience, security, observability and cost efficiency.
- Work with engineering and operational teams on safe deployments, incident response and service readiness.
- Share technical direction through design reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting and practical collaboration.
- Keep documentation, operating procedures and architecture records up to date.
- Take part in the paid platform engineering on-call rota.
You’ll help deliver the platform roadmap, balancing planned improvements with operational needs. That means getting involved in the detail: designing and deploying infrastructure, managing upgrades, improving automation and resolving complex technical issues.
You’ll:
What You'll Bring
- Practical expertise in EKS, Kubernetes, AWS networking, identity and access management, storage, databases and managed messaging.
- Strong Terraform experience, including modules, testing, version control and state management.
- Experience with CI/CD and secure deployment practices.
- A good understanding of high availability, backup, disaster recovery, failover and capacity management.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, tracing and actionable alerting.
- Knowledge of cloud security, vulnerability management and cost optimisation.
- The judgement to balance delivery pace with reliability, security, supportability and cost.
- Clear communication and a collaborative approach to working across technical teams.
You’ll have strong experience building and operating production platforms in AWS, and be comfortable taking complex engineering work from design through to delivery.
You’ll also bring:
Experience with platforms such as Kong or Unleash, or in financial services or another environment with demanding resilience and assurance requirements, would be useful.
How You'll Work
You’ll be self-sufficient and comfortable taking the lead on platform activity, while working as part of a wider team. You’ll bring a point of view on strategy and architecture, make sound technical decisions within agreed guardrails, and involve the right people when a decision has wider implications.
There are no direct reports currently. Your focus will be hands-on engineering, technical leadership and helping the platform capability develop as the team grows.
