Internship - ICT & Network Support

You will help keep systems running and gain hands-on exposure to infrastructure used across our sites.

This internship is built for doers who want to help design and improve everyday IT services. As an ICT & Network Support intern you will help build repeatable support steps, assist with small deployment projects, and document fixes so the team can scale support efficiently.

Responsibilities

Project Support

• Assist in small IT projects such as setting up new workstations and configuring network equipment for branch openings.
• Prepare hardware, image computers, and follow deployment checklists to ensure consistency across locations.
• Help test network changes in lab environments and report results to the technical lead.
• Maintain simple project logs and update timelines for tasks assigned to you.

Network Operations

• Monitor network health and report anomalies using basic tools like ping, traceroute, and simple SNMP checks.
• Support routine tasks such as IP address allocation, cable labelling, and switch port documentation.
• Follow standard procedures to assist with backups, simple firewall rules, and patching schedules.
• Help keep inventory of network hardware and consumables up to date.

User Support

• Provide first-line support for staff IT issues, logging incidents and following escalation paths when needed.
• Guide users through basic troubleshooting for connectivity and account problems in clear, friendly language.
• Assist with account setup, password resets, and permissions under supervision of senior staff.
• Contribute to a knowledge base by documenting common fixes and FAQs.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a diploma or degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
• No prior full-time experience required, internships or lab project work is welcomed.
• Availability for the internship period as agreed with our team and willingness to work from our office when needed.

Hard Skills & Knowledge

• Basic understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS.
• Familiarity with Windows desktop OS and basic server concepts such as Active Directory is preferred.
• Comfort with physical aspects of IT work including cabling, rack mounting, and hardware installation.
• Experience using helpdesk ticketing tools, and willingness to learn network monitoring basics.

Soft Skills & Qualities

• Clear communicator who can explain technical steps to non-technical users and write simple documentation.
• Curious and reliable, with a focus on learning from hands-on tasks and feedback.
• Organised in logging work and following checklists to reduce repeat issues.
• Team player attitude and respect for customer service when supporting colleagues.
