IT Support Technician

PORTWEST, a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE is currently seeking applications for the position of IT Support Technician in Westport, Co.Mayo  on a permanent basis reporting to theHelpdesk Team Lead.  Founded in 1904, Portwest has become one of the fastest growing workwear companies in the world currently employing over 6,000 staff worldwide. JOB SUMMARY:

As an IT Support Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support to our organization. Your responsibilities will include assisting users with IT-related issues, managing small projects, and ensuring the smooth operation of our IT systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1st and 2nd Level User Support:

• Provide prompt and effective technical assistance to end-users.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
• Resolve incidents related to desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.

Networks and VLANs:

• Experience working on Firewalls.
• Understand and configure switches and VLANs
• Troubleshoot network connectivity issues.

IT Helpdesk Environment

• Work closely with end-users to address their technical needs.
• Log and track support requests.
• Maintain excellent customer service

Project Management

• Assist in managing and delivering small IT systems projects.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals.

Server Maintenance:

• Perform periodic maintenance tasks
• Apply updates, patches, and firmware upgrades.
• Regularly back up and ensure system recovery procedures are in place

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in an IT Support, Service Desk or similar technical role, or equivalent practical experience.
• Good working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications and SharePoint.
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, user account management and access permissions.
• Basic understanding of networking, hardware, software and IT security principles.
• Familiarity with Windows Server environments and virtualisation technologies would be advantageous.
• Experience using IT ticketing systems to manage and resolve support requests.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach.
• Organised, adaptable and eager to learn new technologies and develop technical skills.
• Relevant IT certifications are desirable but not essential.
