High Voltage Engineer (Bess & Power Distribution)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Engineer with practical expertise in high-voltage battery energy storage systems (BESS) and electrical power distribution. The ideal candidate possesses strong hands-on technical skills and be capable of independently performing electrical installations, system integration, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, and commission high-voltage BESS and associated electrical equipment.
• Perform technical work on transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, protection devices, and power distribution systems within applicable safety authorisations.
• Integrate solar PV systems, battery storage, inverters, and electrical distribution infrastructure.
• Configure and troubleshoot Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Static Transfer Switches (STS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Battery Management Systems (BMS), and power conversion systems.
• Conduct electrical load assessments, cable sizing, fault diagnosis, and corrective maintenance.
• Interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and protection schemes.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, approved designs, and manufacturer specifications.
• Prepare technical, testing, commissioning, and maintenance reports.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline (mandatory).
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant hands-on electrical engineering experience.
• Proven practical experience with high-voltage BESS and medium/high-voltage electrical distribution systems.
• Strong knowledge of transformers, switchgear, protection systems, electrical testing, and commissioning.
• Practical experience with 11kV/33kV electrical distribution systems.
• Experience with industrial solar PV and large-scale battery energy storage installations.
• Technical competence in lithium battery systems, BMS, EMS, ATS, and STS.
• Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex electrical faults.
• Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical safety procedures.
• COREN registration and relevant high-voltage safety or equipment-specific certifications are added advantages.

Important Notice

This is a hands-on position. Applicants must be capable of independently carrying out technical installations, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Experience limited to supervision or project management without direct practical engineering involvement will not be considered sufficient.
