ABOUT THE ROLE

We're seeking an experienced Implementation Engineer to join our global Professional Services team, responsible for onboarding renewable energy assets (solar PV, wind, and battery storage) onto our Unity APM platform. You'll work alongside the rest of the Professional and will own the successful technical delivery: site configuration, data connectivity, validation, and performance accuracy. This is a customer-facing technical role: you'll interpret site telemetry, configure performance calculations, and speak directly to customers about what their data is telling them, not just whether the pipes are connected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the technical delivery of asset onboarding, partnering closely with the assigned PS Project Manager to align on scope, timeline, and customer expectations while driving the day-to-day execution and quality of the work
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for customers during onboarding, translating site-specific requirements and design (hierarchy, tagging, data connectivity) into reality within our SaaS Unity APM platform
  • Establish and troubleshoot data connectivity between renewable sites and our platform, including on-prem historian/SCADA integrations, cloud-to-cloud APIs, and file-based ingestion
  • Configure asset hierarchy, KPI calculations, and alarm logic according to implementation runbooks and asset-class best practices (PV performance ratio, wind capacity factor and availability, BESS state of charge and round-trip efficiency)
  • Validate signal quality and calculation accuracy through structured site testing, identifying and triaging issues such as missing data, out-of-range values, misconfigured tags, and incorrect KPI outputs
  • Lead customers through user acceptance testing, explaining performance results and resolving discrepancies between expected and observed values
  • Contribute to internal process, tooling, and data quality improvements across the implementation lifecycle

Required Background:

  • Technical degree (engineering, energy systems, or related) or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 3+ years of applicable working knowledge of renewable energy asset concepts: performance ratio, capacity factor, availability, curtailment, and basic electrical fundamentals (AC/DC, voltage types, reactive power)
  • Comfort interpreting time-series sensor data and identifying anomalies, gaps, or calculation errors, not just verifying that data arrived
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with confidence leading technical conversations directly with customers
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to learn new technical domains quickly
  • Direct experience with asset performance management or other energy monitoring and controls platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including secure site connectivity (e.g., IPSEC tunnels)
  • Experience with Linux, Windows networking, and SQL databases
  • Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash) and structured file formats (JSON, XML, Excel, CSV)
  • Familiarity with on-prem historian and datalogger integrations (e.g., N3uron, Campbell Scientific Loggernet) and industrial protocols (OPC, Modbus, IEC 104)
  • Experience with cloud-to-cloud data connections and REST API-based integrations
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud environments
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams and network architecture diagrams
  • Exposure to solar/wind O&M workflows or revenue-grade metering concepts
