At Qantas, finance plays a critical role in enabling strategic decision making and ensuring the financial strength of one of Australia's most iconic organisations. We're looking for an experienced finance leader to join our Centre of Finance Excellence as Head of Financial Control & Reporting.

As Head of Financial Control & Reporting, you'll lead a large, high-performing team responsible for financial accounting, forecasting, reporting and governance across the Qantas, Freight and Corporate segments. Reporting to the Head of Centre of Finance Excellence, you'll partner closely with senior finance leaders and executives to ensure the delivery of accurate, insightful and timely financial information that supports key strategic and commercial decisions.

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring a blend of technical accounting expertise, commercial acumen and the ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders across a complex business environment. You'll provide leadership across financial control, compliance, performance reporting and continuous improvement initiatives while driving engagement and capability within a large team of finance professionals.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading a large team of finance professionals to deliver monthly financial reporting, forecasting and analysis.
  • Maintaining accountability for profit and loss, balance sheet and capital expenditure reporting across multiple business segments.
  • Ensuring strong financial governance, internal controls and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Partnering with CFOs, Heads of Finance and business leaders to deliver commercial insights and support decision making.
  • Leading financial transformation and continuous improvement initiatives that improve systems, processes and reporting outcomes.
  • Managing complex stakeholder relationships and influencing outcomes at senior executive level.
  • Driving a culture of accountability, capability development and high performance across the finance function.

You’ll have:

  • Significant experience in financial accounting, financial control or financial management within a large and complex organisation.
  • Proven success leading sizeable, high-performing finance teams.
  • Deep technical accounting expertise and strong knowledge of accounting standards and reporting requirements.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior executives.
  • A strategic mindset combined with strong commercial acumen and analytical capability.
  • Experience leading change, managing competing priorities and delivering outcomes in a complex environment.
  • Degree qualifications in Finance or Accounting together with CA or CPA accreditation.
