Relais & Chateaux is a French association of independently owned luxury hotels and restaurants that was created in 1954 and is run from Paris. Its collection covers around 580 houses in more than 60 countries, each admitted on the strength of its cuisine, hospitality and sense of place, and the association promotes them through guides, curated itineraries and a shared booking site. Member properties range from country inns and chateaux to Michelin-starred restaurants, and recruit chefs, housekeeping, maintenance and management staff through the association's shared careers channel.
