The Opportunity
As a Student Software Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and verification of embedded software for innovative medical devices. You'll work alongside experienced engineers to solve complex technical challenges while delivering high-quality, reliable software that directly impacts patient outcomes worldwide.

What You'll Do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software applications
- Implement automated and manual verification activities to ensure software meets functional and performance requirements
- Participate in software architecture, design reviews, and technical discussions
- Document software designs, implementation decisions, and test outcomes
- Contribute to the delivery of quality software within project timelines
- Troubleshoot, analyse, and resolve software defects and customer-reported issues
- Collaborate effectively with software, hardware, systems, and quality engineering teams
What You'll Bring
Technical Skills
- Experience in C++ and/or Python for application and test software development
- Experience working within Agile development environments
- Familiarity with source control and collaboration tools such as GitHub, Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence
- Strong software design, code review, debugging, and testing skills
- Ability to identify technical gaps, evaluate options, and collaborate on solutions

Required Qualifications
- Currently undertaking a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Must be in final or penultimate year of study.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Embedded C/C++ and object-oriented programming
- Exposure to developing software for embedded or real-time systems
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing methodologies
- Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitHub workflow actions
- Experience using AI tools responsibly and effectively with a focus on quality
