The Position
Product Operations Lead (POL) - Project Management Chapter, Roche Informatics (RIS)
Potential Locations: Sant Cugat (ES), Vienna (VIE)
Who We Are
At Roche, we are passionate about transforming patients' lives, and we are bold in both decision and action - we believe that good business means a better world. We commit ourselves to scientific rigor, unassailable ethics, and access to medical innovations for all. Roche is strongly committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. We strive to build teams that represent a range of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.
The Opportunity
You will be the operational backbone of a Life Cycle - the person who ensures that strategy translates cleanly into execution.
While leadership owns strategic decisions and empowered product teams own delivery, you make sure the connection between both is seamless. You bring visibility, reduce friction, and shield teams from operational overhead so they can focus on what matters: product discovery and delivery.
You'll work at the intersection of Portfolio Management, Business Operations, and the product teams - maintaining the single source of truth for investments, capacity, and risks, and ensuring executive leadership has decision-ready visibility without pushing bureaucratic overhead down to the teams.
What You'll Do
Ensure strategic traceability across the Life Cycle
- Maintain a clean, continuous link between Portfolio and Life Cycle objectives, cascading strategic context to product groups.
- Enable empowered teams to make autonomous, high-quality decisions by providing the alignment and context they need.
- Establish consistent frameworks for measuring business outcomes - not just output - keeping a clear thread from strategy to product epics.
Be the single source of truth
- Guarantee a reliable, consolidated data source for the Life Cycle's investments, business viability, capacity, and risks.
- Partner with Portfolio Management and Business Operations to provide executive visibility, absorbing ad-hoc reporting requests to protect the teams.
- Maintain consistency across execution systems (Jira, Orion, Monday.com), ensuring tools reflect the total state of work without pushing manual overhead to the execution layer.
Drive operational flow and remove friction
- Analyze operational metrics across the Life Cycle to proactively identify and resolve structural bottlenecks before they impact delivery.
- Facilitate Life Cycle-level risk and opportunity management (ROMA) and coordinate critical integration points between Life Cycles.
- Track high-level dependencies and remove cross-team impediments as a servant-leader.
Enable the operating model
- Drive organic adoption of the RIS Operating Model (including PLCF and mQMS) at the Life Cycle level.
- Integrate frameworks into standardized workflows - ensuring compliance without overburdening product teams.
- Continuously refine and simplify operational processes with RIS Business Operations, fiercely protecting the teams' space for innovation.
Who You Are
- 7+ years in Diagnostics, Life Sciences, or related fields in project management, product operations, or related functions.
- Scientific, engineering, or business background with a strong operational mindset.
- Deep understanding of lifecycle management, product development, and product care in a complex portfolio environment.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams: you connect strategy to execution naturally.
- Strong analytical skills: you see patterns in data and translate them into actionable insights.
- Comfortable with ambiguity: you bring structure where there is none without waiting to be asked.
- Working knowledge of Planisware, Jira, MS-Office, G-Suite. Familiarity with Orion, Trello, or similar tools is a plus.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
- Willingness to travel 5-15%.
