Collins Aerospace is looking for a Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Focal Leader who supports and facilitates the alignment of communication between the Global Supplier Quality (GSQ) Central Organization, the plant(s)/site(s) and the RTX supply base. The SBU Focal is responsible for driving accountability for the execution of actions needed to ensure proper flow and quality of material to RTX plants and customers. Processes supplier submission of nonconforming material through SRIs/V1s/V2s/NOPQEs etc. Supports QN Processing (SAP, iQMS, EtQ, Epicor, etc.), ensures escape data integrity, validates QN responsibility, drives FAI prioritization, waivers (QMS and Nadcap) along with 2nd/3rd party audit support on site. Engages in tier meetings and CAB reviews as well as with programs and site Operations teams to drive actions to completion. Facilitates the disposition of supplier’s request for process approval/changes to Flight Safety or Frozen Processes to their respective Business Unit.
This position is onsite in Rome, New York.
What You Will Do
- Analyzes and makes recommendations for the implementation of supplier’s assessment, monitoring, escape management, and quality issue resolution processes.
- Coordinates containment activities and the involvement of the right commodity or central quality representative; including SAP, iQMS, Epicor, etc. and Systems QN information support.
- Prepares and interprets CAB details for presentation to plant(s)/site(s) and coordinate implementation of action items/deliverables to the associate commodity or central quality representative.
- Ensures escape data integrity and validates QN responsibility.
- Assists on the prioritization and escalation of FAIs.
- Participates in tier meetings, Quality Clinics and provide onsite assistance for 2nd and 3rd party audits and ensure that follow ups are conducted and actions assigned are closed.
- Assists on Risk Release and Waiver requests as applicable.
- Supporting in review the non-fault found items and assist with their disposition.
- Facilitates the disposition of supplier’s request for process approval/changes to Flight Safety or Frozen Processes to their respective Business Unit.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR
- Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience OR
- In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.
- Experience with Quality and Continuous Improvement tools
- Experience with AS9100 requirements.
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis.
- Experience with Supplier Management.
- Experience with MS office suite, specifically creating PowerPoint presentations and MS Excel data tables and visual metrics.
- U.S. Citizen Required.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience MS office suite. Creating PowerPoint presentations.
- Experience working and interacting on a manufacturing shop floor.
- Experience working in a central quality or manufacturing organization.
- Experience with SAP, CATIA etc.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent or ACE.
- Project Engineering background.
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing.
- Experience with AS9145.
- CQE (Certified Quality Engineer)

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
