Mechanical Assembler (Vista) - Intermediate - Day Shift

Work Schedule: Day Shift: Monday - Friday; 6:30 am - 3:00 pm (40hrs per week)

Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members and are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated hourly base pay rate for this position is $28 .

This position may also be eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP). AIP amounts are variable and are dependent on both company and team performance, subject to eligibility criteria. The target bonus percentage for this role is 4% of annual base earnings.

Are you passionate about assembly? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual for our metal-enclosed switchgear assembly function. As an Assembler - MESyou will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints. Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble moderately complex mechanical parts with numerous pieces and installation steps. Utilize hand tools and power tools to fasten screws, bolts, and other hardware to secure components in place, ensuring proper torque and alignment.
• Inspect mechanical components meticulously to identify any defects, ensuring they meet strict quality standards.
• Maintain accurate records of tasks performed, deviations, and any quality concerns.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols while handling tools, equipment, and materials. Report any safety hazards promptly.
• Read and understand complex blueprints and Bills of Materials (BOLs).
• Use an overhead crane, ladders, and other material handling equipment to move and position materials for assembly.
• Utilize the Oracle ERP and other internal systems to close jobs and request material replenishment.
• Verify quality standards via a quality assurance checklist.
• Mentors less experienced team members in the completion of their work to help their professional growth.
• Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards.
• Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

What you’ll Need To Succeed:

• 2-3 years of experience in a mechanical assembly role in a manufacturing environment.
• Highly proficient in performing precise and delicate tasks using hands and fingers. Able to manipulate small objects, operate tools, and handle intricate equipment effectively.
• Ability to understand complex blueprints and BOLs.
• Sound attention to detail, with the ability to determine accurate order quantities consistently.
• Ability to work independently and meet requirements of assigned materials requests.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments.
• Basic computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests via internal applications.
• Basic math skills with the ability to calculate measurements and weights.
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team member inside and outside of the department.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measurement tools.
• Ability and willingness to follow Health, Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.
• Ability to train and mentor less-experienced team members.
• Capable of embracing diversity and equity to ensure they contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace.

Physical demands:

• Standing: All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
• Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs.
• Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km).
• Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
• Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
• Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
• Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes.
• Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
• Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
