About the role
You will build Scimplify's Aerospace & Defence business from the ground up. The first focus is long-term supply of raw materials for land defence vehicle programmes, followed by aerospace, space and other defence platforms.
You will own the full cycle: mapping the market, winning OEMs, Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers and public sector undertakings as customers, running government bids, and closing long-term agreements with sound margins. You will work with our R&D, sourcing and manufacturing teams to turn customer specifications into qualified, reliable supply.
This is a builder role. You will set up the pipeline, processes and customer base that the A&D vertical grows on.
Key responsibilities
Business development
- Map the Indian A&D market: land defence vehicle programmes, aerospace, space, and the OEMs, Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers and PSUs behind them.
- Build and run a pipeline through customer profiling, lead generation, face-to-face meetings and relationship building.
- Win new customers for Scimplify's raw materials, advanced materials and specialty chemicals.
Long-term agreements and contracts
- Negotiate and close long-term supply agreements (LTAs), MSAs and tri-party agreements with clear pricing, EBIT and margin targets.
- Structure supply-chain solutions such as material-as-a-service models for large programmes and their sub-contractors.
Government and PSU business
- Run bids for government, defence and PSU customers under DAP 2020 and related procurement rules.
- Own the bid from requirement analysis and solution design through submission, negotiation and sign-off.
Key account management
- Manage key accounts end to end, including order book, forecasts and renewals.
- Plan inventory, coverage and purchasing with operations to meet customer forecasts on time.
Technical and cross-functional coordination
- Translate customer specifications into material requirements for R&D, sourcing and manufacturing teams.
- Drive customer qualification, approvals and documentation with quality teams.
Market building
- Build business cases and roadmaps for adjacent markets such as space and semiconductors.
- Represent Scimplify at defence expos, industry events and customer forums, and create marketing material for the vertical.
Experience and education
- 7 to 12 years in business development, sales or key account management for aerospace, defence or space programmes.
- A track record of closing long-term supply agreements
- Experience selling raw materials, metals, alloys, composites, chemicals or engineered materials is a strong advantage.
- Engineering degree in mechanical, metallurgy, materials science, aerospace or chemical engineering. An MBA is preferred.
How you work
