About Scrumconnect Consulting
Scrumconnect Consulting is a multi-award-winning UK public sector digital consultancy, positively influencing the lives of over forty million UK citizens. We bring deep expertise in agile delivery, digital transformation, and platform engineering across central government. With a team of over one hundred and twenty-five professionals - more than forty percent of whom are women - we are committed to building inclusive, diverse teams that reflect the communities we serve.
The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Delivery Manager to lead a multidisciplinary agile team delivering digital services for a central government client. You’ll be accountable for how the team performs: keeping delivery flowing, removing blockers, managing risks and dependencies, and helping the team continuously improve. You’ll guide services through the GDS life cycle and make sure they meet the GDS Service Standard. You’ll also help the team adopt agentic AI safely and effectively across the software development life cycle.
At SFIA Level 5, you’ll lead agile teams, work with senior civil servants, and act as a recognised leader in agile and lean practice.
What You’ll Do
Lead a multidisciplinary agile team day to day, setting a sustainable pace and focusing the team on what matters most.
Choose and adapt agile and lean methods to suit the team and the work, and coach the team in using them.
Guide services through discovery, alpha, beta and live, using evidence to decide when to move on, and prepare the team for GDS service assessments.
Embed agentic AI into the team’s ways of working, for example, in development, testing and delivery workflows, while managing the associated risks and governance.
Plan and forecast delivery, and manage risks, issues and dependencies, including those owned outside the team.
Communicate clearly between technical and non-technical stakeholders, from engineers to senior civil servants.
Monitor team costs against budget and report on financial delivery.
Act as the day-to-day contact for the team and coordinate their work.
Build a healthy, motivated team, run regular health checks and act on what they show.
Work within government governance and assurance processes.
Essential Requirements
SC cleared or eligible for SC clearance.
Experience leading a multidisciplinary agile team as its Delivery Manager.
Experience delivering a service through GDS phases, including preparing for a service assessment.
Experience working with civil servants within government governance structures.
Experience using agentic AI within the software development life cycle, such as AI agents in development, testing or delivery workflows, including managing the risks and governance involved.
Desirable Requirements
Experience in a central government department.
Knowledge of government AI assurance, such as the Algorithmic Transparency Recording Standard or DPIAs for AI.
Experience managing budgets and multi-supplier delivery.
Enough technical understanding to discuss data, cloud and AI options with engineers.
An agile delivery certification, such as Scrum Master or SAFe.
