Risk Officer to Risk Oversight in Norway | SEB, Oslo

The CRO function is looking for a Risk Officer to jointhe Risk Oversight teamin Oslo. We are seeking someone with experience from the financial sector and a solid background in risk management, particularly market risk. In this role, you will monitor and report identified risks, supportthe business in understanding and takingownership of its risks, and help ensure that risks are managedin accordance with external and internal requirementsand international best practices.
You will report to the Head of Risk Oversight in Norway and work across the risk types relevant to the Oslo Branch. The position offers significant scope for professional development and, for the right candidate, the opportunity to grow into a more senior role within the organisation. The role is based in Oslo and offered under a local Norwegian employment contract.

About the role:
The CRO function is an independent control function reporting to the Chief Risk Officer of SEB Group. Risk Oversight Norway is a team of threewith responsibility for independently identifying, assessing, measuring, monitoringand reportingrisks within the SEB Oslo Branch.Market risk expertise will be an important part of the role, while you will also gain exposure to credit, liquidity and non-financial risks.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Understand the local business profile, both by knowing the business drivers and inherent risks in the business model
- Understand the SEB Risk Frameworks around credit, market, liquidity and non-financial risks.
- Understand local regulatory requirements on risk control as well as the impact of regulations and changes thereof.
- Support the business in understanding their risks and facilitate the identification of new and emerging risks.
- Support in the preparation of risk reports for local management.
- Control and monitor risk limits/tolerances.
- Escalation of potential breaches in accordance with SEB Risk Instructions and follow-up of agreed risk reduction measures in the event of limit violations.
- Assist in ensuring that all business units have sufficient knowledge of the SEB Risk management framework, processes, tools and reports that is relevant to their business.
A great part of this role is the opportunity to work with the global risk organization and with other branches, this may require travel.
To thrive in this role, we believe you are:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or another relevant field.
- Relevant professional experience from the financial sector, preferably in banking, trading, treasury, risk management or an independent control function.
- Good understanding of market risk and practical experience of analysing, monitoring or managing market risk exposures.
- Knowledge of market risk measurement, limits, risk drivers and relevant products is highly valued.
- Interest in broadening your expertise across credit, liquidity and non-financial risks.
- Potential and motivation to take on increasing responsibility and develop into a more senior role over time.
- Proactive and forward-looking, with an interest in adopting new technology and analytical tools.
- Structured and delivery-focused, with high integrity and strong ethical standards.
- Persistent, curious and willing to challenge constructively.
- Collaborative, as close cooperation with colleagues locally and globally is essential for success in the role.
- Strong communication skills in English; proficiency in a Scandinavian language would be an advantage.
