Role overview

The Nail Technician will provide professional nail care and enhancement services while ensuring that every client enjoys a comfortable, hygienic and satisfying spa experience. The successful candidate will assess clients’ preferences, recommend suitable treatments, perform nail services to a high standard and maintain a clean and well-organised workstation.

We seek someone who combines technical skill with creativity, excellent customer service and a genuine commitment to professional beauty care.

Key responsibilities

Nail care and treatment services

• Perform professional manicures and pedicures, including nail shaping, cuticle care, nail cleaning and polishing.
• Apply regular nail polish, gel polish, acrylics, extensions and other nail enhancements according to client preferences and professional standards.
• Create attractive nail designs, patterns and finishes while maintaining precision and attention to detail.
• Assess clients’ nail conditions and recommend appropriate treatments and nail care routines within the scope of the role.
• Remove nail polish, gel products and extensions safely using appropriate techniques.
• Provide hand and foot care services, including exfoliation, moisturising and massage where offered and within the technician’s training.
• Stay informed about current nail trends, techniques, products and designs to keep services fresh and appealing.

Client experience and customer service

• Welcome clients warmly and create a relaxing, professional and comfortable treatment experience.
• Consult with clients to understand their preferences, desired designs, lifestyle needs and expectations.
• Recommend suitable nail shapes, colours, finishes and treatments based on each client’s preferences.
• Communicate clearly about available services, treatment options, maintenance and aftercare.
• Handle client feedback professionally and take appropriate steps to resolve service concerns.
• Build lasting client relationships through consistent service quality, attention to detail and personalised care.

Hygiene, safety and workstation management

• Clean and disinfect tools, equipment and work surfaces before and after every client appointment.
• Follow appropriate hygiene, sanitation and infection-prevention procedures throughout all treatments.
• Use professional products and equipment safely and according to manufacturer instructions.
• Maintain a clean, organised and inviting workstation.
• Dispose of single-use items and other waste appropriately.
• Monitor nail products and supplies, report shortages and help maintain adequate stock levels.
• Recognise signs of potential nail or skin conditions that require caution and refer clients to an appropriate healthcare professional when necessary.

Teamwork and business support

• Coordinate with reception staff and other spa professionals to manage appointments and deliver services on time.
• Maintain accurate appointment and service records in accordance with company procedures.
• Support the promotion of nail services, packages and relevant products through professional recommendations.
• Contribute creative ideas for seasonal nail designs, promotions and service improvements.
• Assist with maintaining the spa’s professional image and high standards of client care.
• Participate in relevant training and development activities to improve technical skills and service delivery.

Candidate requirements

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

• A relevant certificate, diploma or vocational training in Nail Technology, Nail Care, Beauty Therapy or a related field.
• Previous experience as a nail technician in a spa, salon or beauty establishment is an advantage.
• Practical skills in manicures, pedicures, nail polish application, gel nails, acrylics, extensions and nail art.
• Strong knowledge of nail care, product application, tool sanitation and workplace hygiene.
• Excellent attention to detail, precision and creativity in delivering nail services.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to understand and respond to client needs.
• A friendly, patient and professional approach to customer service.
• The ability to manage appointments efficiently and deliver quality services within reasonable timeframes.
• Confidence recommending appropriate nail treatments, products and aftercare.
• A commitment to continuous learning and keeping up with evolving nail trends and techniques.
• Professional conduct, personal hygiene and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
