Role Location: Paris, France - 5 x per week in office

The company:

A fast-growing technology company building data-driven products around places, locations, and real-world experiences. The team works with large-scale datasets and complex real-world signals to build reliable, high-quality data products, who are searching for an experienced Data Engineer, specifically experienced in geospatial data, place matching etc.

What makes this role different: is that unlike a traditional data engineering role focused primarily on pipelines, storage, and infrastructure, this position sits at the intersection of data engineering and real-world places data - working with noisy geospatial signals to identify, match, enrich, and measure the quality of places and locations.

Role and responsibilities:

• Build and improve data pipelines for location and place-related data.
• Work with large, complex, and noisy geospatial datasets.
• Improve data quality, reliability, monitoring, and observability.
• Develop metrics and feedback loops to measure data quality.
• Prototype and analyse solutions using Python, SQL, notebooks, and similar tools.
• Support production experiments and integrations with backend systems.
• Conduct offline evaluations and A/B testing where appropriate.

Job requirements:

• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Production experience with Python or Scala.
• Experience with PySpark, Spark SQL, Spark Streaming, Parquet, and Iceberg.
• Strong experience working with large-scale datasets and data pipelines.
• Experience with geospatial data, POIs, entity matching, or similar real-world data (must have)
• Understanding of data quality, metrics, and experimentation.
• Comfortable working alongside backend systems and navigating production code.
• Experience in maps, mobility, local search, POI data, or geospatial systems (nice to have)
• Experience with ranking, recommendations, embeddings, or entity resolution (nice to have)
• Experience with Flink or similar stream processing systems (nice to have)
• Experience reading or making scoped changes in Rust-backed systems (nice to have)
