Our customer is a leading healthcare consulting firm specializing in market access and HTA advisory, active across CEE and emerging markets.

This is an entry-level position designed for someone with strong analytical and numerical skills who wants to develop expertise in health economics, pharmacoeconomic modelling and Health Technology Assessment (HTA).

You do not need to be an experienced health economist. The are looking for someone who is curious, comfortable working with numbers and Excel, able to think logically and eager to learn how economic models are built and used to support real healthcare decisions.

You will receive structured in-house training and gradually develop the skills needed to build and adapt budget impact, cost-effectiveness and other health economic models for projects for leading pharmaceutical and medical technology companies.

About the role:

As part of our Health Economics & HTA team, you will:

  • Develop, populate and adapt Excel-based health economic models
  • Support the development of Budget Impact Analyses (BIA), Cost-Effectiveness Analyses (CEA), Cost-Utility Analyses (CUA) and other economic evaluations
  • Work with model inputs such as patient populations, treatment pathways, costs, clinical outcomes and epidemiological data
  • Perform calculations, scenario analyses and sensitivity analyses
  • Structure, clean, process and analyse datasets
  • Conduct research on epidemiology, burden of disease, treatment patterns, healthcare resource utilisation and costs
  • Review and extract data from scientific literature, clinical studies and healthcare databases
  • Analyze numerical and scientific data and translate findings into model assumptions and inputs
  • Support the adaptation of international economic models to the Bulgarian healthcare environment
  • Prepare tables, figures, summaries and analytical outputs for HTA dossiers, reports and presentations
  • Work closely with experienced HTA analysts, health economists and medical experts
  • Gradually take responsibility for increasingly complex modelling projects

Requirements:

  • University degree or final-year studies in areas such as:
    • Economics / Health Economics
    • Finance
    • Statistics / Mathematics
    • Data Analytics
    • Pharmacy
    • Medicine
    • Biology / Biotechnology
    • Public Health
    • Business or another quantitative or life-science discipline
  • A combination of life-science knowledge and quantitative/economic skills would be a strong advantage.
  • Strong numerical and analytical thinking
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and genuine interest in becoming an advanced Excel user
  • Ability to understand relationships between variables and translate real-world problems into calculations
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Curiosity about how models work rather than simply how to populate them
  • Ability to work with large amounts of numerical and scientific information
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Very good written and spoken English and Bulgarian
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently after initial guidance
  • Good organisational and time-management skills
  • Responsibility for the quality of your own work
  • Interest in healthcare, economics and evidence-based decision-making
  • An advantage would be:
    • Previous experience with financial, economic or statistical modelling
    • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables and data analysis
    • Knowledge of health economics, Pharmacoeconomics or HTA
    • Experience working with healthcare or clinical data
    • Basic knowledge of statistics
    • Experience with scientific literature and reference-management software such as Mendeley
    • Experience with Power BI, R, Python or other analytical tool
  • Previous professional experience in HTA or health economic modelling is not required.
