Software Delivery Acceleration Systems for engineering leaders. Sonatafy diagnoses where software delivery breaks down and installs the systems that fix it, across Consulting, Managed Delivery PODs, and senior engineering capacity.

THIS OPENING IS AVAILABLE FOR CANDIDATES IN LATIN AMERICA, NOT LIMITED TO ONLY COLOMBIA.

Sonatafy Technology, headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, is an award-winning nearshore software development company with a strong reputation. They have a dedicated in-house team of engineers, offering end-to-end software solutions and supporting client development staff augmentation. Catering to companies of all sizes and industries, including some of the world's largest brands, Sonatafy Technology is a trusted provider of nearshore enterprise-level cloud and mobile application software development services.

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented QA Engineer with extensive manual and Automation experience using Playwright. You will be part of a collaborative engineering team focused on ensuring product quality through robust test automation and efficient QA practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive automated testing efforts across the platform (50%-50% manual).
  • Contribute to social media reporting initiatives.
  • Conduct thorough automation code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.

Manual Testing (≈50%)

  • Review requirements, user stories, and designs to identify gaps, edge cases, and testability concerns early in the sprint.
  • Write and maintain clear test plans, test cases, and checklists in BrowserStack Test Management.
  • Perform functional, exploratory, regression, smoke, and UAT-support testing across web and mobile.
  • Execute cross-browser and cross-device testing, including responsive layouts and real-device checks.
  • Validate APIs and back-end behavior manually (e.g., Postman) to support UI findings.
  • Reproduce, document, and triage defects with clear steps, evidence (screenshots, videos, logs), severity, and priority.
  • Partner with Product and Development during sprint ceremonies to clarify acceptance criteria and sign off on releases.

Test Automation with Playwright (≈50%)

  • Design, build, and maintain end-to-end and API automated tests using Playwright with TypeScript.
  • Apply maintainable framework patterns (Page Object Model, fixtures, reusable helpers, test data management).
  • Identify which manual test cases should be automated and convert stable, high-value scenarios into automated regression coverage.
  • Investigate and fix flaky tests using Playwright Trace Viewer, logs, screenshots, and video.
  • Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines with parallel execution and run cross-browser tests on BrowserStack Automate.
  • Report automation results and quality metrics (coverage, pass rate, defect trends) to the team and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Playwright using TypeScript
  • Proficiency in Playwright Trace Debugging
  • Experience with BrowserStack Test Management
  • Experience with BrowserStack Automate
  • Proven ability to scope and implement automation requirements for new features
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals
  • Experience setting up and maintaining Continuous Integration systems
  • Skilled in reporting, tracking, and triaging bugs, and solving complex technical problems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail
  • Solid experience in manual testing: test case design, exploratory testing, regression, and smoke testing
  • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies and test design techniques (boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning, risk-based testing)
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and with defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira)
  • Hands-on experience with API testing, both manual (Postman or similar) and automated (Playwright API testing)
  • Comfortable with Git, code reviews, and pull request workflows
  • Advanced English, written and spoken

Nice to Haves

  • Hands-on experience with native mobile and web QA automation (Appium, WDIO)
  • Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD
  • Experience with GitHub Actions or other CI tools
  • Basic SQL for data validation
  • Exposure to accessibility testing (WCAG) and visual regression testing
  • Familiarity with performance testing tools (k6, JMeter)
  • ISTQB or similar QA certification
