About this role
We're looking for a senior Product Manager to build the learner intelligence behind Speak's superhuman tutor: understand each learner, measure whether they are improving, and use that understanding to personalize what happens next.
This role owns the loop from understanding to action to proof. You will turn assessment, behavior, mistakes, goals, and model outputs into a coherent learner state; use it to improve recommendations, feedback, and sequencing; and make progress understandable to learners and credible to B2B customers.
This is a hands-on, end-to-end product role with broad company-level outcome ownership. It is not an internal platform roadmap or an education-domain advisory role. The first-order need is someone who can make a messy user, data, and AI system legible, ship it into the product, and prove it helps people learn.
What you'll be doing
Establish reliable, transparent signals of what a learner knows and whether they are improving across formal assessments, learning activity, and learner behavior.
Turn assessment, behavior, mistakes, goals, context, and other signals into a coherent learner-state model.
Establish quality gates for measurement accuracy, trust, transparency, actionability, and fairness.
Use that understanding to improve recommendations, feedback, sequencing, and next actions across voice, lessons, content, and review.
Make learning progress understandable to learners and visible as credible outcomes for B2B customers.
Define the evals, instrumentation, and quality loops that tell us whether personalization improves learning-not just engagement.
Create product requirements and decision frameworks that engineering, data, design, learning, and AI teams can build against.
What we're looking for
Must-have qualifications
6+ years of hands-on product experience, or equivalent evidence of unusually high slope and scope.
Evidence of turning an ambiguous understanding-of-the-user problem into a shipped product with meaningful impact.
Deep user empathy, including the ability to distinguish the needs of end users and commercial buyers.
Strong systems thinking: you can make users, signals, models, workflows, and dependencies understandable enough to make decisions.
Technical fluency across data, ML/AI systems, instrumentation, quality, evals, and architecture.
Strong product judgment and user taste; technical sophistication without losing sight of the experience.
Research judgment: you can combine qualitative research, behavioral data, and technical or expert input, and know when to investigate versus ship.
High agency and cross-team influence, with clear evidence of consequential decisions and outcomes rather than coordination stories.
Nice-to-have qualifications
Experience with personalization, recommendations, learner modeling, or another system that decides what should happen next for a user.
Experience with assessment, learning science, health or outcomes products, experimentation, or B2B reporting.
Experience building a system or set of artifacts that multiple product teams adopted.
Prior experience with proficiency, assessments, psychometrics, or education is not required. We care more about learning speed, systems reasoning, research judgment, and the ability to develop conviction in a new domain.
