Speer Technologies | Full-time | Fully in-office, downtown Toronto

Build Strong Teams With Us

Strong teams are built through thoughtful hiring. At Speer Technologies, we’re looking for a Recruiter who can find talented people, recognize their potential, and help shape our team as we grow.

Recognized as one of Canada’s Top Growing Companies by the Globe & Mail three years in a row, Speer is an ambitious Canadian digital design and software development company based in Toronto. We partner with organizations across healthcare, the public sector, and other industries to design and build websites, mobile applications, and digital platforms that have impact. .

Our fast-paced startup environment brings together engineers, designers, product specialists, and business professionals and we’re looking for a Recruiter who can connect with top talent and bring the right people on board to help shape our next chapter.

Your Role at Speer

Speer Technologies is seeking a proactive, adaptable Recruiter who thrives in a startup environment. This role is fully in-office at our downtown Toronto location, near Union Station.

You’ll own recruitment from sourcing through offer acceptance, working closely with hiring managers and leadership to build our team. Proactive headhunting is central to this role, so you should enjoy finding strong candidates, reaching out directly, and building relationships.

We’re looking for someone excited to jump in and contribute as the business evolves. You’ll need to stay organized, adapt to shifting priorities, and keep multiple searches moving. You’ll also have room to suggest improvements and put them into practice.

Recruitment will be your primary focus, with occasional support for onboarding coordination, people-related administration, and other operational needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Full-Cycle Recruitment: Manage recruitment across engineering, design, product, sales, operations, and other business functions, from sourcing through offer acceptance.
  • Hiring Manager Partnership: Work with leadership and hiring managers to define role requirements, hiring priorities, interview processes, and evaluation criteria.
  • Proactive Headhunting: Identify and engage candidates through targeted research, personalized outreach, LinkedIn, professional communities, and referrals. Build relationships with people who are not actively applying.
  • Candidate Assessment: Conduct screening interviews to evaluate skills, motivation, communication, working style, and alignment with role requirements and Speer’s values. Provide clear recommendations supported by interview findings.
  • Interview Coordination: Schedule interviews, prepare candidate summaries, collect feedback, and follow up with stakeholders to keep hiring decisions moving.
  • Candidate Experience: Maintain timely, professional communication and ensure candidates understand the role, process, and next steps.
  • Talent Pipeline Development: Maintain relationships with prospective candidates to support current searches and future hiring needs.
  • Culture Contribution: Partner with leadership to attract people who strengthen collaboration, accountability, and inclusion while bringing diverse perspectives to the team.
  • Offers & Onboarding Support: Assist with reference checks, offer preparation, accepted offers, and onboarding coordination.
  • Recruitment Administration & Reporting: Maintain job postings, candidate records, and recruitment trackers. Report on pipeline progress, identify bottlenecks, and recommend process improvements.
  • Ad Hoc Support: Assist with additional administrative, people-related, and operational duties as business needs arise.

What You Bring

  • At least two years of recruitment experience in an agency, an internal recruitment team, or a combination of both.
  • Strong interviewing skills and sound judgment when assessing candidates beyond their qualifications.
  • Demonstrated success proactively sourcing, engaging, and hiring candidates who were not actively looking for a new role.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence engaging candidates and partnering with hiring managers.
  • Organized and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple searches, shifting priorities, and high-volume communication in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Proactive and resourceful, with enthusiasm for joining a growing organization and jumping in to support the team as needs arise.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS), human resources information systems (HRIS), and recruitment platforms, with attention to record accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Curious about technology and eager to learn about the roles, skills, and tools behind the products we build.

A Few Extras We’d Love

  • Experience recruiting in a technical environment, such as a software company, digital agency, or technology consultancy.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation, or working toward it.
  • French language proficiency is an asset, but is not required for this role.

What You Can Look Forward To

  • Pay & Benefits: $50,000-70,000 CAD base salary, commensurate with experience, plus dental care, vision care, paid time off, and wellness support.
  • Ownership & Impact: Take ownership of recruitment and see the direct impact of the people you bring on board.
  • Leadership Connection: Work closely with hiring managers and company leadership, gaining insight into the business and helping shape hiring decisions.
  • Room to Grow: Build your recruitment expertise across different disciplines, put your ideas into practice, and take on new responsibilities as Speer expands.
  • Culture & Community: Join a collaborative team where your perspective matters and help shape an inclusive workplace where people can thrive.

This is a full-time, Monday-to-Friday role, fully in-office in downtown Toronto, near Union Station.
