Role overview
Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Android System Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Europe.
Our client is an American mobile computing company. They provide AI innovation and acceleration for the company's Business Units and are working on CV and GenAI solutions with an emphasis on device inference (Mostly Qualcomm chipsets). Researchers create/fine-tune models and hand them over to the engineering team to optimize, quantize, etc. The team then builds an application solution with customers to demonstrate value.
We are seeking Android Systems Engineers to architect and build an automation framework. In this role, you will design low-level Android interaction layers that allow our application to navigate, inspect, and execute complex workflows across third-party enterprise apps using Android Accessibility Services, Intent architectures, and App Functions APIs.
Requirements:
Strong experience in native Android development using Kotlin and Java, with deep knowledge of Android OS internals.
Hands-on experience with low-level Android APIs, including AccessibilityService, AccessibilityNodeInfo, IPC/Binder/AIDL, System UI, Intent Filters, and App Search/App Functions.
Proven experience building UI automation, UI inspection, or screen-parsing systems, such as custom UI testing frameworks or assistive technology solutions.
Experience architecting and optimizing background services that interact with dynamic UI trees and reliably simulate user interactions.
Solid understanding of Android Intents, BroadcastReceivers, and structured invocation pipelines for deep application integration.
Strong knowledge of multithreading, memory management, and Android background service lifecycle optimization, particularly for resource-constrained devices.
Experience working with Android Enterprise, MDM/MX frameworks, and elevated accessibility permissions, with a strong focus on secure deployment and system integrity.
Ability to design robust, low-latency, and resource-efficient Android solutions for rugged enterprise mobile devices.
Responsibilities:
Architect robust background services utilizing AccessibilityService and AccessibilityNodeInfo to inspect dynamic UI trees and simulate human interactions reliably.
Design structured invocation pipelines leveraging Android Intents, BroadcastReceivers, and Android 15+ App Functions / AppSearch APIs for deep app integration.
Optimize view-tree parsing for low latency and minimal battery/RAM footprint on rugged enterprise mobile computers
Work within Android Enterprise (MDM/MX) frameworks to ensure secure deployment of elevated accessibility permissions without compromising system integrity.
