Senior Python Developer

Svitla Systems Inc. is seeking a Senior Python Developer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Europe. Our client is a health insurance company that uses advanced technology to better serve its members.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Backend Specialist with strong expertise in Python, SQL, and Windows environment scripting. In this role, you will help design, optimize, and maintain backend data workflows while handling sensitive healthcare data. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to automate processes, analyze data, and ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations.

Requirements

• Python Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Python for backend development, task automation, and data manipulation and analysis.

• Strong SQL Knowledge: Deep understanding of relational databases, query optimization, indexing, and data warehousing principles.

• Windows Shell Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Windows scripting (PowerShell and Batch) for task scheduling and system operations.

• Regulatory Compliance & Detail-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and enforce healthcare regulations and data privacy rules (e.g., HIPAA).

• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of clear technical documentation and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Backend Development & Automation: Build, maintain, and optimize Python scripts and backend systems for data processing, system automation, and data analysis.

• Database Management: Write, debug, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data pipelines to efficiently handle large healthcare datasets.

• Environment & Shell Scripting: Develop and maintain automation workflows in a Windows environment using Windows Shell (PowerShell / Command Line).

• Compliance & Documentation: Review, understand, and apply relevant healthcare regulations to ensure system compliance and data integrity. Thoroughly document technical findings, workflows, and process changes.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members to report insights, troubleshoot issues, and align project goals.

• Participate in the on-call rotation every 5-6 weeks; most pages occur during working hours.
